Don't question the Steam, EA!
Now, WHO'S NEXT? (Microsoft mayhaps?).
Also, on a lighter note, this Spore probably doesn't have any of the bullshit problems the regular version had.

I wanted to get Spore but the DRM software kept me far, far away. I have nothing against protecting ownership but some of that stuff seemed way over the top. Quote: |

Steam itself is like its own built in DRM that doesn't screw with your computer, it just checks to make sure your stuff is valid (why people who pirate games like Left 4 Dead can't play online because Steam can see that the game is pirated and nix the person's ability to play the game).
This article basically compares what Steam does as opposed to the DRM- Drm: Steam DRM Vs Spore DRM

it's no different than when the music industry tried slipping software on CDs to control piracy. People didn't like it and retaliated.
Apparently, Steam has gotten it right and i hope others follow suit. Kinky is when you use the feathers. Perverted is when you use the whole duck. |

That means some triple A titles coming. Mass Effect needs to be played by more people. |

EA, however, has in the past tried (and failed miserably) to create a replacement for Steam. Since that obviously wasn't working for them they finally caved and decided to let Steam handle their digital distribution on the PC platform from this point on.
When Steam was first being built back when Half Life 2 was about to come out Valve actually went to big companies like EA and Microsoft asking for help with such a platform, all the big wigs blew them off saying that was future-talk and what not. But hey, it came and its only gotten bigger and badder since then.
