I read about this from E3, but the video of it really drives it home. Has she touched the game before? Ever played any rhythm music game? She fails out about halfway through, and would have a lot earlier if not for the drummer guy heroically keeping things together. I love when they fail and she's like "That was my fault." No kidding. I think she hit 4 or 5 notes the entire time. Painful to behold:

Also, how lame does this game look?

To be fair she did JUST play the same song on a real guitar. I'm guessing she actually did that fairly well or we'd have a longer video.

Yeah I would say if you are going to demo a game you should be good at it first.

Song's not exactly hard to play on a real guitar.

I bet it's harder than the game though.

No, really, it's not. The disconnect between the game and real instruments is pretty fucking massive. I'm not going to be an asshole and say that you can pick up a real guitar and play this shit well from the get go, but mid-tier stuff like Blitzkrieg Bop is a relative synch to play on guitar in real life. This is a Call on Guitar Hero III is fucking hard, but relatively easy to play on a guitar. Same with Sweet Child o' Mine... that intro isn't anywhere near that hard to actually play.

Sure you won't sound like the Ramones, the Foo Fighters and Slash, but the disconnect is there, and it's a big one.

You can argue that expert drums is much, much less disonnected, you're hitting note for note on a fairly reasonable approximation of the real instrument and the skills you pick up by playing can be transferred reasonably successfully to a real kit. There are some pretty good YouTube videos of people playing real drums to the note charts in Rock Band, and some of them started learning -because- of that game. Harmonix's dream has become real
