I've found Crescent Isle shows up fairly often when I've gone online. Very nice that you can share the Mirage islands that way.

    Eh

Reckless on Emboar's good, but Infernape's a better Fighting/Fire Pokemon
Serperior doesn't have that many moves to use contrary with
And Shell Armor for Samurott is alright I guess, but Torrent would still probably be better

does anyone else have some trouble with the pokemon bank?

i tried to place 10 pokemon into the bank and when i finished and it saves data, the game freezes and gives me an error message. ive tried this 4 times and it doesn't go through.

good thing my game isn't corrupted.

I thought it was novel that the magic bullet Prof. Cozmo was gonna use against the Deoxys Meteor was called the "Link Cable" considering that Generation 3 was the last time such a piece of technology was necessary (and ORAS being remakes of Ruby and Sapphire)

I Guess. Though Leaf Storm Serperior has been something I've dreamt of for a while now so it's kind of why I'm a bit excited.

But yeah I wished we were getting the Johto Starters with their HA.

So I've decided to go back through my fourth and Fifth Generation Pokemon games. Starting with Platinum Version.
Dear God, I forgot how much of a pain in the ass it was just to get to the first city in Platinum. Three unavoidable trainer battles and only Starly and Bidoof to capture. Then there's the mandatory visit to the trainer school, and hey there's an asshole that stops ya from visiting a GTS building that doesn't even do anything anymore (Thank you, Gamespy).
On the other hand, Professor Rowan's first appearance in the game (hey, don't go out into the grass, ya idiot!) was decently done. Rather than having the game's Professor inexplicably live in the starting town, Rowan just HAPPENED to come by and spot two youths that happen to love Pokemon and are willing to risk getting mauled by wild pokemon to get their starters so he gives these two youths Starter Pokemon to get them started on their journeys. Not to mention neither the Girl NPC nor the Rival are any relation to him. The introduction to Running Shoes was also well done. Up to the point at which you receive the aforementioned footwear, you move at a painfully slow pace, which your Rival is all too eager to remind you of. After you get the shoes, Hold B and move at a more comfortable speed. There's something to be said of Looker's very first appearance in the series, as well. For a secondary side character, he's rather entertaining. He says he works for Interpol on the hunt for some as-of-yet-unknown person and that he'll consult the player as an informant. He also gives you the Vs Recorder, which is nice.

I finally put some real grinding today, travelled all of the water routes and do all of Victory Road and beat Wally. Honestly I'm not sure if I should just go in now and challenge the Pokemon League or train a bit more?

So, in my platinum run I've done all the things I need to in Jubilife City (Barry, Clowns, ETC) and have caught a few other pokemon; Budew, Kriketot, and Shinx. I've never owned a Shinx in-game. I'm hard at work grinding to get everyone up to level 8 while trying to resist the urge to use the TM for Return (Before Gen VI, TMs were single-use-only). So far Chimchar's at level 7, Starly's 8, Budew, Shinx, and Bidoof are level 5 and Kriketot is level 6. I can't wait till Kriketot evolves into Kriketune for its Delelelelelele whoooOOOOOOp! Cry.

I have a quick tip Shinx is hard to train at the start of the game but after the first gym he will be a bit easier when he learns thunder shock and you reach Floroma town because Buizels are common there.

He does have a kick ass cry, but my favorite is Regice. I like Registeels too, it reminds me of a revamped Transformers transformation sequence.

And I've officially beaten the Elite 4 and Steven Stone. It was not easy.....ok it was easy sweeping the elite 4 but Steven, he was a night mare....the main issue wasn't Metagross, it was Cradily. Nothing on my team resisted it or was strong against it.

Also I hate the long ass cutscenes. Seriously Game Freak I'd like you guys to tone it down next time, I just want to save my game and shut the 3DS off.

Yeah, no fighting or ice types in your team so I imagine Cadilily gave you some trouble. If you had given your Swampert arm hammer, things might've been a lot easier. Then again Cradilily is grass type so using Swampert against it might've been troublesome.

Isn't the first gym in platinum Rock-type?
Goddamnit, yes. Roarke, the Rock-type gym leader.
Whelp, I guess there are worse ways this game could screw me over...
Gonna go back and try to dual-slot with my busted-up D/P Special DSLite to get Growlithe, Lotad, Pineco, Seedot and any others I may have missed once I catch an Abra (Already caught a Zubat... one of the few times I've been happy to encounter a Zubat in my days of playing the Pokemon games) before proceeding to Oreburgh to receive a rock-hard ass-beating by Roarke. (I chose Chimchar because the Chimchar line isn't easy to find)

If you're playing Platinum you can catch Psyduck in the cave before Oreburgh City. That's what I usually do, then I spend some time in the Route north of the city (which has Ponytas and Geodudes in the grass) level-grinding Psyduck until it learns Water Gun, so I have at least one super-effective move for the gym. After that I keep Psyduck as a temporary team member until better Water-types (Vaporeon is my favourite to use in Sinnoh) become available.
