Does anyone remember the Mewtwo rumor, the one about
    two Mega Evolutions
. Well I haven't seen anyone here touch on it yet but during Pokemon Smash Serebii says
they showed Mewtwo Mega Evolve but concealed the result and said the host was shocked
    .

I think I will start with Fennekin and pick Squirtle as my Kanto starter. Torchic will go straight to the box. Since I plan on getting a Pokemon XY 3DS, not sure which color yet, if I have the money I may transfer one of each starter to X, my currently planed main game, with a few extra Torchics. I may transfer the Kanto starts as well if they have their Mega Evolution stones, if they are unique, since I expect them to be obtained shortly after the 1st gym but no later than the end of the 2nd.

With the Kanto starters and Torchic having Mega Evolutions and the Kalos starters being likely to have them I would be surprised if all starters don't have a Mega Evolution. I wonder if Xerneas and Yveltal will have one.

So far there have been 30 new Pokemon revealed, not counting Mega Evolutions, with 2 of them not receiving a full reveal with artwork (Oorotto the tree Pokemon which was in the horde battle from the movie trailer and another one from the recent Kanto Mega Evolution trailer). At this point I think I will try to avoid an more Pokemon news until sometime after receiving the game, only taking the time to check the event Pokemon schedule. I will probably forget about a few of those 30 and really I don't want to know too much more until I play it.

Oddly enough I completely forgot half of the new Pokémon already. :lol  I think that if I stop looking up stuff a week before release I'll have some surprises due to my comically bad memory.

I even managed to forget Pangoro somehow...

I forgot about the rumour until the Pokémon Smash thing. I'm curious about what it'll look like. Hopefully cooler than what we've seen. :lol

This Meta right here does. I want to see how a crazy-ass pistol shrimp evolves :D

Also, speaking of mega-evolutions, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Mega Yanmega :3

So hey, what do you guys think we'll get for the "next" pokemon game? X and Y 2? Z?

Personally I'm thinking Z, makes sense that the third legendary Poke will be a serpent who can form that shape or something with the rumor that this gen is based around Norse mythology or whatever.

You got the blind bird at the top of the world tree, the stag at the middle who's antlers antlers look like the branches of the tree, and then a serpent representing hell at the bottom.

i like Mega Mewtwo, honestly. But yeah, I deffo think there will be another one for him and a few others (if not in this game, then in the next one or the next gen even), no other Mega evolution has a name, yet Mewtwo's is called his "awakened form" or something?

Hoping it'll be something closer to Mew, almost as a "perfect mewtwo" or something closer resembling the original.

Whatever it is, I'm willing to bet it gets that Mega Launcher ability that Mega Blastoise is getting. Surely Clauncher will get plenty of "pulse" moves, which is apparently what that ability boosts.
Pokemon Z makes a lot of sense. But then again, so did Pokemon Grey.
I'm also a supporter of the serpent "Z" legendary theory though.

Also, shiny Palkia should be available at Gamestop now. I forgot my DS so can't get one today. Good thing we have until like October until Giratina (and XY) comes out.

Currently taking the Black Tower and White Treehollow challenges in BW2 and I'm in no hurry to complete them and ready to play XY a month from now. Though a shiny Gible and Dratini is tempting. Some of my other relatives and friends aren't exactly enthused about the Kanto starters and plan to throw them in the box as well. Hopefully there's more to do post Elite Four than just going through dungeons inacessible during the initlal quest, catching legendaries, rechallenging the Elite Four, battle towers and of course "gotta catch'em all".

Think there's any chance we'll get that Hurricane Mewtwo and/or Shiny Genesect with Gear Shift/Blaze Kick/Extremespeed?

That would be like 1000x better than these shiny Sinnoh legends from Gamestop.

Wifi event, make it happen Nintendo!

So, I was looking over Blastoise's movepool, and... well, that Pulse boosting ability is kind of useless as it stands right now.
There's only 3 damaging Pulse moves (Water, Dark, Dragon) and then Heal Pulse, but that's percentage based anyway, so I doubt that would get the bonus.
Then there's the fact Blastoise can only learn Water Pulse of the 3(4).
And Water Pulse has such a low base power of 60, that unless the bonus is around 30% or more, would still be the better move. (Not to mention Burn being a better/more reliable option on something bulky like Blastoise than Confusion anyway)
Unless I've missed a reveal of new Pulse moves, or they innately boost Water Pulse like they did to Tackle and some others with 5th Gen, I don't see this as a useful ability at all.

Not to rain on everyone's parade, but the Z Pokemon being at the bottoms of the tree is incorrect in terms of geometry. Most theories say Yveltal is the bird at the top, the deer is Xerneas and Z is below. But, they also say Yveltal represents the Y axis (height, etc.) while Xerneas represents width and length as the X axis. But then, geometrically, Z is NOT at the bottom.

Below the tree is actually -Y, the direct opposite of Y. Xerneas, on the ground, actually inhabits the X-Z plane, as Z is the third axis which is perpendicular to both X and Y. Thus, if X is horizontal left to right and Y is up and down, Z is actually in and out (literally in and out of your screen). Thus, the serpent at the bottom is NOT in the Z area, but rather nearer the -Y axis.

However, there is supposedly some rat/rodent that also lives at the base of Yggdrasil. This creature would actually inhabit the X-Z plane, and thus, it is more likely to be Z's mascot than a serpent if we're going by geometry (and Nintendo presumably would not want to teach kids incorrect geometry). Considering Pikachu and Raichu, the idea of a rat with a Z shape is not too ridiculous, as the tail can easily be shaped as a 'Z' (hell, if Pikachu can have a lightning bolt tail, then a legendary rat can have a Z shaped tail).

So, basically if you believe in the Yggdrasil theory, then one must accept that it doe NOT fit with the idea of X and Y being geometry references. Thus, Xand Y would be genetic references (the helix in the Japanese logo being the main hint), which would lead to the sequels being more likely to be X2 and Y2 rather than a direct Z third game.

Thus, no matter how you slice it, the Z serpent does not make sense, unless Nintendo wishes to teach kids incorrect geometry by making the -Y axis its "Z". Of course, all of this is just speculating on speculation, but geometry says Z is not below X, but rather on the same level as X, just going in and out of your screen.

    [/mathematical justification]

I read, and I completely understand your justification on the matter, but I don't think game freak really care.
I bet the mythology came before the name of the games. I imagine they look up real world mythology, saw an image of the world tree with a bird, a stag, and a serpent at the bottom, then someone made a slight connection to X,Y and Z when they were thinking about what the games could be called.

EDIT: this is if the whole thing ends up being true, that is.

I THINK the official site has some mention of Dark Pulse in Mega Blastoise's description of Mega Launcher, so I expect he might be getting Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse this time around. Maybe it will buff Hydro Pump, or "beam" moves too. See Octillery's movepool for an almost complete list of "shooting" attacks. Hopefully it pulls some of those as well.

So I'm going to throw out an idea.
It's something a friend of mine suggested and most of us are going to do.

    GYM LEADER MODE:

Because all gym leaders use just one type. they have a tremendous disadvantage against the player. So here is what we are going to do.

On launch day we will put every type into a hat, then draw. after each drawing the type goes back in the hat.

Whichever type you draw, THAT is the type you must solely use until after you beat the Elite Four. Now starting out obviously that not possible and you'll need to diversify, but as new Pokemon in your assigned type become available, you must swap out. obviously dual types are allowed.

So there it is, Genius or Insanity? Personally I could never tell the difference.
