February 7, 2008 - In "They're Making What?!" news, Mastiff announced it is set to publish a game based on Major League Eating. Finally, those who don't have the stomach to be part of the MLE can experience the joys of consuming massive quantities of food, if only virtually.

"Major League Eaters aren't just elite athletes," says Bill Swartz, Head Woof at Mastiff with a straight face. "They are the people who built America. Or at least the competitive eating part of America. And I am deeply honored that the International Federation of Competitive Eating and Major League Eating choose Mastiff as their exclusive videogame partner."

"We knew this sport would lend itself very well to an interactive format," said George Shea of Major League Eating. "Mastiff has the stomach and the sense of humor to pull this off."

Fans of the MLE are well versed in the exploits of Japanese hot-dog-eating phenom Takeru Kobayashi. This slender champion has marveled the world with his ability to ingest high volumes of food in shot periods of time. In Major League Eating: The Game, you take the role of one of the worlds' "gurgitory atheletes," chomping your way through a dozen different foods. Mastiff describes the title as being "built much like a fighting game." Your defensive arsenal includes burps, belches and mustard gas. And yes, vomiting is included.

No platforms were specified in the announcement and no timetable for release was given.

So is Kobayashi a playable character or not? If he's a boss, it's going to make every SNK boss fight look like a tutorial level.
