I see what flamepanther was saying. And even with the name change, it still works, because it could be referring to OoT's Gannon when he said he'd return and take out Link and Zelda's ancestors. And while he did just that in WW, the Triforce of Power seems to make him somewhat omnipresent, so the statement still works for Timeline 2.

Gustaf is an ancient king of Hyrule, who comes back from the grave as a ghost in order to give Link the kinstone needed to enter the Cloud Tops where the Wind Tribe lives.

At the end of Twilight Princess we see the Master Sword back in its pedestal in the forest. This scene should be quite familiar to long time fans of the series because its reminiscent of the final scene from A Link To the Past. At the end of TP, the Master Sword was laid to rest and would not be awoke from its slumber until A Link to the Past.

Here after the defeat of Ganon, the Master Sword was once again laid to rest, but this time forever. Meaning ALttP happened long after OoT and TP, but occurred in different timeline from Wind Waker

And since the original Legend of Zelda occurs before ALttP, that seems to answer the old debate over whether the Magic Sword in the original game is the same as the Master Sword. It can't be.

As far as I'm concerned, Miyamoto and Aonuma are laughing up in their offices saying "Stupid fans think theres a timeline!" IMO...No offense though. I believe if Nintendo cared that would of made their own timeline by now.

According to Nintendo, they do have their own timeline for internal use. Nintendo probably doesn't release it because they want to be able to make changes without hordes of rabid fanboys bitching at them about it.
