At their E3 2007 Press Conference, Sony unveiled their plans for a new PSP model to be released in September.
It's 33% lighter, 19% slimmer, the battery is more efficient, games load quicker, and has the ability to output a high quality video signal to your television. The PSP will also be available in two new colors. The Ice Silver color comes with the "Entertainment Pack", which will set you back $199.99 and include a 1GB memory stick, the game 'Daxter', and "Family Guy Frickin' Sweet Collection" on UMD. For the same price you can get the white "Star Wars Themed" PSP packaged with 'Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron', but that won't be in stores until October.
| Boo...
I was hoping for more. At least a better re-design. A clamshell would have slimmed it down greatly. I'm gonna pass.
I saw a Boxing commercial and it said "It's a fight to the finish" Thats a good place to end.

How do you redesign the PSP and NOT fix the awful D-pad and crippling single analog nub? I suppose I can sort of understand the lack of a second nub (vital though it may be) since this is an evolution and not an entirely new product, but the apparently unchanged D-pad is totally inexcusable to me.
I'm curious about one thing though. They're jamming a LOT of stuff into those two Entertainment packs...I wonder if they chose not to announce immediately that the base unit is going to drop again to $150? It doesn't really make sense to keep it at $170 versus the other two packs, and at $150 the PSP starts becoming a VERY compelling mass market option versus the DS.

I never held my psp and thought "Oh my god this thing is so heavy, my puny arms can't keep holding on!"
What a waste of potential.
