too be honest, I was a little underwhelmed by what was shown of it. But after seeing gameplay and hearing hands on impressions I'm hyped as shit now

It's another Wii game brought to Wii U.
I really hope they have something Wii Uy in it like say a massive battlefield with tons of AI (both enemy and friendly).

It uses two screens, what about it is screaming "Wii" to you?

People have already said to run the game the way it plays something has to give, and thats unfortunately gonna be the graphics.

Personally I'll take 60fps over fancier looking visuals.
If I want a graphical experience I'll just play games on PC.

exactly. I mean, I know it's not to the standard of your typical nintendo game, but star fox is a pretty fast game anyways. as long as the 60fps is consistent i'll be happy

The graphics are good enough for me, as others have said.
    It's the gameplay that matters.

I was referring to the gameplay, most Nintendo's recent games haven't exactly made use of the hardware like Super Mario 64 did the N64, Pikmin did the Gamecube, Dead Rising the Xbox 360.
This Starfox game has been done before in a few Transformers games.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the Star Fox showing. Granted, Star Fox and Yoshi's Wooly world are the only 2 games shown that I plan on getting.

The graphics don't really bother me, more so the gimmick of using the gamepad. I hope this game is compatible with the pro controller and I can bypass using the gamepad completely.

Indeed. I do hope that the pro controller can be used somehow.
Unfortunately I suspect that it might only end up being usable in some sort of local co-op mode similar to how Splatoon does it.

It would be nice if they thought of something like Zombie U, where you could use the gamepad as just a scanner propped up on the stand and use the pro controller for everything else. I really enjoyed that set up.

    Thank you. :)

Honestly, I could care less about the lack of online multiplayer. We're getting a new StarFox game; I think that alone is good enough for me.

Transformation in games has existed for a long time.

As for making use of the hardware, that the reason why the graphics took a hit. The way you view different things between the tv and the gamepad affects the gameplay.

The problem I'm going to have with the game is the gyro targeting controls. It seems that the gamepad and wii remote both have difficulty recognizing the starting position. I haven't played a game yet that utilized the gyro controls well except for Mario Kart, and even then, it was a little touchy.

It was confirmed that you can play without gyro so rest easy on that.

I'm not too fussed about the online play. i feel like if nintendo do online now, they are going to build the entire game around it after the success of splatoon.

they've said it's not a sequel, prequel, or continuation of Star Fox, more like a reimagining.

Now if Nintendo would only revive StarTropics...
