I'm thinking this trailer might be the actual first 15-30 minutes of the game, which excites the hell out of me.
    - Playing as random person right at the time the bombs drop.
    - Running for Vault 111
    - Then actually being able to make your character, maybe they are a decedent of whoever you ran inside.
    - Once you get out, can go into the same town you explored at the very start, now destroyed.

Its Gamebryo again (the same engine for Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3, NV, etc.), you can tell from the draw distance. They've really improved the lighting and textures for this release. If they've found a way to keep the engine stable with more than 5-7 NPCs on screen at one time, I'm fine with it.

Or if you play like me... that's just exploring one building.

Eugh, looks like more Fallout 3. But with color, so that's nice.

NV had much better writing and less linearity in story progression (and a better story in general). I get if people like FO3's post-apocalyptic tone better but I thought the world was really dull.

I've sunk 50+ hours into both though and I'll probably do the same for this one.

Agreed. I've played Bethesda's First Person RPGs since Daggerfall, so I'm expecting to sink 300+ hours into my first playthrough of this game. Just like all the rest.

I've never played Fallout before, but I have heard nothing but praise for it. The trailer looked good to me. I'm surprised they didn't wait to show this at their E3 conference. It makes me wonder what else Bethesda has up their sleeve other than Doom.

by releasing the trailer they're generating hype and more people will tune in to watch, rather than waiting for it to be over with news, etc :)

Well, my hype's back. I still worry for it though, as I've only played the Fallout games where Obsidian was on board. Hopefully Bethesda can pull it off.
I can't believe people are complaining about the graphics. It's Fallout, the graphics were never that good in the first place.

Yeah, Anything that looks like a ps3 game is fine for me (and this looks better than that). This gen I want gameplay I haven't had before.

To be honest I don't recall any Bethesda games that had truly top notch graphics in the vanilla game. I guess people are still expecting a bit much from the PS4 and Xbox One in terms of graphical output.

The Order 1886 might be a fucking shit game but it's the best looking game on console or PC that I've ever seen so...

Like, if the game is HUGE ( like fallout 3 was for its time) then who cares?

Because with games like Witcher 3, I expect a graphically impressive game considering the scale. Witcher 3 is far from the best looking game, but it's still impressive what they got out of the engine versus the size of the maps. If Fallout 4 is aiming to be bigger, they also need to aim to make the graphics semi-impressive. Not great, but good. That trailer looked like an early PS3 game, and that isn't gonna cut it.

Maybe with the part with the dog fur but I fail to see any part of the trailer that looked that bad.

I just hope they don't pull a Skyrim with its world size.
Vanilla Skyrim... OH GOD. I'm so used to mods that I can't look at vanilla Skyrim.
I just really hope that Fallout 4 looks as good as it does in the in-game footage.

It's not that I'm saying it's bad, it's just extremely obvious that the visuals, at best, are sort of coming close to making the most out of last-gen tech. Which is a bit odd considering it's coming out so deep into the current-gen cycle.

It's certainly nothing that would keep me from playing it, but it is very, very noticeable. Maybe they're sacrificing detailing for an unbelievably massive explorable world. Don't know.
