Great choice. I seriously think he'd be awesome as Roy.

Because he's, unfortunately, a perpetual near-teen, I'd say Elijah Wood would be a great choice for Rick Hunter.

You could also go the route of "closer to teenager years and as yet untested on the bigscreen" route and choose someone like Tom Welling or...

I dunno, I can't think of anyone else who's dark-haired, teenagery and not yet a big name. Of course, it'd probably help if I watched shows that came on WB if I was going to name names.

so far I realy like all of the cast choices made so I will go in a different direction and say that if I could get a live action Robotech movie made I would include all the sidestory stuff from the novlels (i.e. Thinking caps and what not) just so it's different and not just a carboncopy of the cartoon,and then maybe all the rabid Macross fans would not bitch so much if a Robotech movie was made. I mean can't just see and hear it, that and I read the novels way before I saw even half of the cartoon and have a much softer spot in my heart for them than the cartoon. But I do love Macross.

I'd throw out all the robotech stuff, and adapt Macross.

Captain Gloval: Peter Stormare

Ben Dixon: Sean Astin.

Max Sterling: Christian Bale? I dunno, it just seems that Bale is so awesome, and Robotech is so awesome. Shrug. The two of them together would just be cool.

Gorg Bodolza: Bring Marlon Brando back from the dead. He'd be perfect.

Shoot. The other night I thought of the perfect guy to play Ben Dixon, but now for the life of me, I can't remember.

That's the Macross version (officially spelled Golg Boddole Zer). Robotech shortened his name to "Lord Dolza".
