So, who's excited? For those that don't know, The Evil Within is the first game by Tango, a team made up of some of Capcom's old staff and headed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, God Hand and Vanquish. It's his return to classic survival horror and looks real good.

You play as detective Sebastian Castellanos, who while investigating a mental asylum with his partners became trapped inside and is now hunted by the strange creatures dwelling within.

It controls and plays somewhat similar to past Resident Evils, mainly 4 but it less action oriented and features more puzzles, similar to the first three. You have the standard handgun, shotgun and rifle to wield, as well as traps. You can play stealthy if you like which becomes pretty important at higher difficulties as you have much less ammo. The puzzles also become easier or harder according to the difficulty. Some aspects of the game such as enemies and even areas are randomly generated so don't expect to simply memorize an area and clear it.

Game comes out on the 14th for PS3/PS4/X360/X1/PC, but I think the game has already been leaked in a few areas.

Adding this this to my backlog Tuesday. Good two weeks for survival horror fans with this and Alien Isolation.

I'm debating on whether I want to get this instead of Alien Isolation. I just do not know, something tells me I will not like this game.

Seems interesting. Not getting it though. Apparently the game will be capped at 30 fps on PC. I don't get why people cap their games.

Out of curiosity what? Biggest thing this has going for it, at least for me, over Alien is that impressions make it seem much less repetitive than Alien gets.

    I'm curious why as well.

I blame this mostly on Bethesda Tango. Japanese devs have always had difficulties with PC ports and and instead of helping them Bethesda decided to go the easy way. Didn't help that they probably forced them to use their own engine instead of unreal.

Still, I'm too excited for this game to skip it. Won't be worse than on PS4, at least.

Such a shame that Bethesda is bad when it comes to ports.

I don't know, honestly. I was all into the game when it was first announced but as time went on, my excitement for it waned. I think it also has to do with Resident Evil 6 has kind of ruined horror games for me. Yes, I know this game can not be anywhere near as bad as RE6, but my enjoyment of horror games just seemed to go down the drain after I played it and I'm not sure why. Add on top the really bad Silent Hill games to come out recently and these games just stopped being enjoyable for some reason. Hell, I was replaying REmake on the Wii back in July and found myself not even enjoying that game, and I absolutely love it and played it many times over.

I want to like this game, but every time I watch a gameplay video of it or I try to read an article on it my brain wants to do something else.

I'm debating whether or not I want to get this game; and also if I do get it, if I should go PS4 or PC. Normally I would go with PC, but the PC port is being done by Bethesda, and it could be an absolute mess. It's already capped at 30fps anyway, so maybe PS4 may be the way to go with this game. I guess I could always pick up the PC version on a Steam sale once it a GOTY edition comes out. Decisions, decisions.

Given that Resident Evil is now a shadow of its former self, I'm anxiously awaiting Shinji Mikami's new project.

Don't forget that 60FPS isn't the only advantage pc offers. Plus it's cheaper if you buy it from GMG.

How much is it from GMG? Showing $60 for me.

And yeah, but an Bethesda funded port of a Japanese-made console game does not exactly inspire much confidence that it won't be an absolute mess. ...and then there is the whole fiasco over the system requirements being insane, and at least part of Bethesda's explanation of the requirements is factually wrong concerning RAM usage. :/

You need a code to get the 25% discount. Don't if mine will work for you, though. I'll PM it to you if you want it.

Preloading now. In case people didn't know and don't care about digital copies (so Kain shut up) the game is only $53.99 for PS+ users.

    Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey, that was mean. :lol

Anyway, are there any reviews for this game up yet? I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't have gotten Isolation. Oh well, I guess I can still sell it after I beat it for about $45.

Most are under embargo until tomorrow but Videogamer bought their copy themselves and posted their review.

I would be very surprised if T.E.W. doesn't get hit with the same criticisms Alien Isolation did in reviews.

Odd, they talk about how the story goes no where and the game drags, but still give the game an 8? It sounds more like it should be a 7 in that review.
