yeah i was thinking that also. i watched the whole video twice to see if maybe i was seeing it right. another great review by peaugh. your reviews helo me in determining some purchases because of scale or functionality. i dig the larger size and the star saber most definitely. im just not feeling the look of the figure though. this would make a great motormaster.

If the claw bits on his gut are removable... then that's the only other gripe I have with the figure... and he's then quite nice.

All in all he's neat... and gotta say... wouldn't mind getting that AMW set because yea... those colors fit BH prime quite well!

Pretty sweet! He is like a combination of Cybertron, Beastwars and Prime prime.

    +1 for Prime-jets
    +1 for new munky face
    +1 for flying truck mode

    -1 for gray missiles
-1 for floppy missiles and wings

Over all, I'm pretty psyched, if only for the Star Saber

    Awesome, awesome review!

That said, I still think it somewhat resembles a shitty knock off of a shitty knock off.

    It looks terrible.

Ever piece of his body is just huge because of a solid piece of plastic, no transforming. Transformers Animated optimus had a more involved transformation. Is this really all Optimus can be made into? Swing arms around, swing legs down, peg in.

He looks strangely disproportionate because his waist is so high up.

Pretty cool. I would have preferred the fists and feet to be better hidden in alt mode to add a few simple transformation steps, but I still like it. I wonder if RL will do stickers to make the rear end looks like the G1 trailer?

    Nice review.

The green doesn't look that bad in the video, but I would have much preferred blue.
The jets on the back are great, but they make me wonder if Optimus will look like this in the show.
Thus far none of the Transformers in Prime have been able to fly in robot mode.

Even if he does, its no assurance :)
First edition scream toy has a fairly pronounced jetpack as well. Though I cant off the top of my head remember if the CG model does. Probably not.

If they decide to make this Prime into a Magnus repaint, i'd be behind it. The head would work a bit better for Magnus.
    Thunderclash is good too, however.

I honestly can't wait to get this one. Some of these beefed up Autobots are just all kinds of awesome. And Bulkhead scales surprisingly well in vehicle mode.

Yeah, I also quite like the new esthetic. This prime and deluxe bulk are auto pickups. Though I gotta say I'm not super keen on the spikey remolds. Wheeljack looks like his arm articulation got even worse and murderbee just isn't doing it for me. (DOTM Cyberfire variant will always be my fave murderbee)

Great recent couple of BH reviews, Peaugh! I'm still completely on the fence as to how I feel about this version of Optimus though. Seasons 1 and 2 Optimus felt (dare I say) burdened and had a sense of gravitas to his make up. He garnered respect simply by standing still in a room. However, BH Optimus (at least in toy form) feels like a direct attempt by Hasbro to 'kid him up'. Granted, we're talking about kids toys here, so the appellation is appropriate, but in the past none of the Prime characters/toys have felt like a sincere attempt at playing directly to kids. At least not to these eyes.

Obviously the problem in doing so is the short shelf life that a kids attention span has. Kids love the toys for a year maybe two and then they often leave the hobby as interest in girls, school, and extracurricular activities push toys to the background. So, the target audience has left the hobby for all practical purposes fairly quickly and all you're left with is a trail of tears represented in bad toy/character designs. BH Optimus Prime to me feels like an attempt to appeal to the zeitgeist, which is a moment that will all too quickly be gone. In other words, there is nothing timeless about this version of him and personally I think he's kind of ugly, overwrought, and will be quickly forgotten as we move further into 2013 and even 2014.

This by no means indicates I won't purchase this toy, but as the aforementioned states, I'm not loving this guy.

Nice robot mode. STILL looks better than the Powerizers one. But how did we go from First Edition to this?

Robot mode looks kind of cool, but I really don't like the vehicle mode.

And the transformation looks pretty boring. He's basically just doubled over into a block.

Pass for me. I'm not excited about any of these Beast Hunter molds.

I'm hoping for a repaint into Motor Master or Nemesis Prime. Ultra Magnus would work for me as well.

I was on the fence about this figure (mostly due to pics with him being mistransformed) but after seeing this review I might pick one up. I won't go out of my way to get one, but I will get one.

I haven't been keeping up with the world of TF as of late. Anyword on a Megatron from this line?

Yes, please go into this further. I suspected that there was a new team that took over everything right after first edition, since the feel of the PRiD toys was so different. Do you know something? What happened? And of this Eric, how long was his reign? Was his team around back in the Cybertron days?
