Nice review! Thanks for taking the time :)

Base and most toys fine for little tykes. The prime transformer is quite nice.

But I mourn the loss of Robot Heroes :(  So much better fan service!

I agree - these don't really need to exist - from a collector's standpoint, or a parent that wants to give kids rockin' toys.

But they are filling the preschool Fisher Price market need. If there's money to be made, Hasbro gonna do it!

I couldn't agree more. The G1 toys were so "advanced" feeling with their realistic alt modes that I felt way more grown up than a six-year-old normally would. My little brother was only 4 when TF The Movie came out in '86, and there isn't a single "little kid's toy" that he gives a crap about now or even back then. He-Man and Transformers were all that he held dear all these years later.

I feel like the designers are being forced to give kids these overly simplistic cartoonish toys and the kids are expected to be challenged somehow?

The simple "puzzle" aspect of the original Transformers is sadly missing for the youngest fans now it would seem. And unfortunately the movie line is so complicated in some regards that it is completely off-putting for a child when a simple $10 deluxe takes half the night to transform, they just give up on it and it remains in the "unplayed with" toy box, and ultimately donated to Goodwill or Mom & Dad sell them on ebay.

SO MANY ebay auctions I come across are Lots of Movie Toys, and the descriptions read something to the effect of: "My 7- & 9- year old boys have outgrown these..."

    ...really?

    We're really doing this?

We're having GEEWUNners complain about this line ALREADY?

I give up. This fandom is a lost cause -_-

I still remember that my most played with G1 transformers were the minibots and Topspin, i.e. the ones you could play with as vehicles, then instantly transform into robots when they got to where ever they were going.

Whilst I enjoyed the puzzle-like aspect of the more involved G1 toys, at the end of the day, these were never used to actually play out scenes. As a 5 year old, I'd have loved figures like these.

Guys, they're preschool toys... So yeah, they need to exist. You don't give a DOTM Sentinel Prime to a 3-year-old kid, that's just stupid. The regular Transformers on my desk, my 2.5-year-old daughter rarely wants to play with them, zero appeal to her, their complex look must be too intimidating. Rescue Bots? Since I got them, she always wants to play with them (and the little human figures). If you care about your kids, you don't give them toys they can't play with...

I love that Robot Hero style Skullgrin in your signature. That is all sorts of awesome. I would have loved to see the line continue.

Might have to get the Prime Fire House for my girls.

I picked up a deluxe prime Saturday while shopping with superquad7. We both really liked how the fire station looks. I hope some more figures as nice as prime come out because it could be a much better line for those who like stuff like kreons but want a little more and A LOT less Lego. There is a helicopter in the artwork on primes box. No decepticons kinda sucks since you can get dragons with castles to attack and squids with pirate ships to attack in the same range from playmobile.
