His detailing is an Homage to the original diaclone figure. Pronounced "o-maj". Takara did not light incense in honor of the original figure which would be Hommage, pronounced "ha-madge". All of the writing on this box is Japanese, not Chinese. There are Chinese characters used, but it is Japanese as there are hiragana and katakana mixed in.
Most of the western people are still in that '70s, '80s vibe, where everything asian is either Chinese or Japanese with people never making a difference between Chinese and Japanese. A local comedy and satire show has these running gags where one the main characters keeps mixing these up ("I was trained by my neighbor, Chinese guy called Mr. Miyagi.").
Dictionary.com would like to say that diecast's pronunciation is correct as well: Homage | Define Homage at Dictionary.com Thanks for the review, diecast. I hope to get this one soon.
Absolutely love this figure, and so glad my preorder was honoured!! The repaint and head sculpt really sets this apart from Wheeljack, so much so that I'm still torn as to which mode to display this guy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrJu9FdhVDU Really looking forward to the Diaclone blue Bluestreak and Road Rage coming up later this year!
