In the trailer Optimus Prime is talking about equals and opposites. The description of the game says the Dark Spark is as powerful as the Matrix, and I found it funny why they made the comparison. Is it an opposite of the Matrix? I think it may be Unicron's spark, since it's "Dark" (Dark Energon, etc.) and sparks are the hearts of Transformers. However, in TFP they think Unicron's a myth, and they have an Aligned continuity, so they universe would have to be rebooted Sonic '06 style for it to work. There is contradictions in the continuity that could be resolved by an answer like that (two universes crossing causing a time fracture, blah, blah, blah), or Unicron could be another contradiction resolved later, but that's another topic. Basically, what do you guys think the Dark Spark is?

Now that Prime is finished I don't think they're going to bother keeping continuity.
I've always hated the idea of the Cybertron Series being a prequel to Prime anyway, there are too many contradictions and it limits what they can do with the story of the games.

It's probably a mcguffin created by an pre-teen trying to be edgy.

Maybe it's a relic of some sort that basically
rips holes through time and space (and plot)
to allow the transformers to go to alternate
    dimensions?

Maybe it's got something to do with Unicron, maybe he is the "Dark Spark" about to rise?
