so i went and looked at the fall of cybertron art book and saw their some characters poses and bits and pieces were the same as those car transformers made from high moon.

so those who think falcatron looked like prowl in a way you were right cause it is prowl! tell me what you guys think about them reusing images.

 

It's their stuff. If they want to reuse it, so what? I also noticed from pics that Springer and Hound are the same base artwork. High Moon is FAR from the first to do this and they will be FAR from the last. I swear, if someone gets pissy about this I'm going to scream.

The car promotions are just little sidejobs that the concept artists at High Moon are doing, so I reckon they don't plan in enough time / earn enough money with it to come up with entirely new poses. That's why they are reusing stuff from existing concept art - most people couldn't tell anyway.

This also doesn't belong in fan art, no matter what your excuse is. If you don't want to follow board rules, fine, but don't go complaining about it if you might get punished for it in the future.

It's not just the poses, it's also the exact same parts here and there, completely unchanged. They were paid to make an advertisement, so you'd expect them to come up with something new. Photoshopping older stuff is the same shady thing Dreamwave did back in the day.

 

yeah given the money that most likely changed hands you would think they would pay the artist to do it from scratch.

Uhhh, no. Do you guys have any experience with promotion stuff like this? It's often a really minor thing that, seen how much time and money is put aside for it, feels more like a favor than a genuine art job.

The poses and parts are the same, yes, but most people (the 'masses') these car advertisements are aimed at are not the people who buy the FoC artbook and know it's a reused image.

So no, it's not nearly the same as Dreamwave reusing and photoshopping old stuff, and I'd bet the money paid wasn't that great.


In the end though, it doesn't matter what you or I think of it: the parties involved apparently agreed with this.

I think we need to clarify what amount of money we are talking about. I'd figure the artist could be commissioned to do a peace for about $100 depending on the artist, agent if any. etc etc I don't think your wrong I think a good chunk of this was to get some cross promotion. But still you can call it acceptable for a promo but its still a bit disappointing from an artistic standpoint.
