Ugh, I'm approaching the point of frustration with this game. It's starting to out weigh the fun factor....I might have to kick it down to Scout difficulty. :(

I mean, the crazy 2 and 3 and 4 boss battles at once are happening too often, one right after another.

I can't get past the 3 Shockwaves part.

edit: ooooof, Scout level is WAY too easy...I just breezed through like 3 chapters in no time.

Is it possible to get the character weapons by just doing the turret missions on Magnus or do I gotta do something harder?

Oh wow I just played a mission that said fight Motormaster and the stunticons hoping the stunticons were just not in the story but it was just Motormaster and some goons and then Menasor. Idk why in a game so short, they couldn't lengthen it a bit more by having all of them, they did it with the constructicons.

I got a Grimlock sword on mission 49 Magnus rank, so I think so. I had given optimus any weapon/rare drop related tech I had though.
Anyone figured out the Laserbeak in chapter 4 (I think it's thst one, whenever you have to find the core in the city have Starscream dropped it), it's flying around the tall purple tower but I can't manage to hit it. I have a level A sniper and tried getting on the higher track but nothing.

I just started playing it on scout mode, it's super fun!

I'm about half way through the story I think.

Generally speaking, you only need the "X X X X X", "Y Y Y", "Y X X X X", etc strings. The fancier ones where you do stuff like pausing mid-combo to do a different attack are just for show. Once you get the hang of combat, you can do stuff like a double vehicle mode attack (usually only with the three smaller characters), then chain right into another combo and repeat (unless they guard break or counter attack), or whip out a weapon right after a vehicle attack, or finish off one standard enemy then immediately use your vehicle attack to rush another...it sounds complex but I find the system easier and more forgiving than Bayonetta or DMC, and it's intuitive once you grasp the basics

This. (Although, some of the more complex combos do help close distance with enemies, you can also use the grappling hook for that a lot of the time.)

For everyone struggling, just remember: grind levels 49 and 50 with credit drop, weapon drop, and rare drop modifier weapons equipped, on the hardest difficulty you have unlocked. It's almost impossible not to get SS rank every time you play them, and you accumulate credits (for synthing better weapons and maxing your stats,) and A, S, and even SS weapons (for dealing massive and rapid damage) in short order.

And then figure out how to do just those basic combos, followed by vehicle attack, followed by a simple strike immediately after (which gives you ANOTHER vehicle attack,) then lock on and ranged kill or grapple, rinse and repeat. Dodging to slow time and keep combos going as attacks come in.

It does get brutal at higher difficulties, but if you max your stats and gear up well, you will get the hang of it. And it's glorious when you do! :)  Playing the challenge missions will really help you learn dodge timing, and memorize enemy attack patterns too.

The only missions I struggle with REALLY badly are the "finish in time!" challenges where it isn't clear which way is the route to the finish and the time limit is super short lol.

Agreed. Those finish in time missions are annoying.

But i fully support training in the challenge missions. I think 19-21 (iirc) are insane when it's just boss wave after boss wave, then you fight the autobots, then more decepticons. Great training.

Mission 50 is good for grinding credits and higher grade weapons. I slapped a 40% extra credits TECH on Optimus, which helps. You can snag really good gear too! And it's an easy SS rank every time.

I've only beaten chapter 1 (so no new game plus yet) so I don't have much to grind with, but so far I've gotten Optimus maxed out and loaded up with A and S class weapons. Only downside is how long it takes to get the money to buy and upgrade weapons. Especially if you see something amazing in the shop that you can't get, because the selection always changes.

This game is even grindier than previous Platinum games, so even though the story is roughly 6-10 hours, depending on how slow or fast you are, the time sink comes from grindy-grindy-grinding.

Indeed. The only games I've ever played that are grindier than this (single player games at least,) are the Agarest War JRPGs, and the Sandlot developed Earth Defense Force games.

I grind games like these like they were fresh coffee beans. :p

Anyone got some tips for SS Rank on Commander? Either I finish them off to quick or I tock to long going for Vehicle Attack or Rush Attack bonuses.

I'll admit I'm not playing this game as much I had hoped. The whole weapon system is unnecessary. Not to mention the TECH.

I'm beginning to come to the Point where this Game is no more fun. I stubled across some problems my Gamers side just could not deal with. The Gameplay is somekind of unfair and so catastrophical that you simply loose control over what is happening.

There are several things that bother me so much, that I have decided to lay this game down. It is a dun G1 inspired Game and for how long it lasts it was good. But this game isn't just hard because the enemies are rough or so...

-the fighting areas are way to small to maneuver arround, everytime somethings just in your way and blocks your attack or escape. You couldn't see it, because of the camera angle beeing to close.
-I stated this earlier, but this is important to point out and it is somekind of a dealbreaker for me. The flow of the system isn't smooth enough. Almost every enemy is capable of dodging your attacks or simply break and counter your combo. This interrupt my gameflow ending in a death very often.
-enemys offscreen can attack and hit you. The flyers are hard to get to and hard to hit also. You concentrate on the ground troops. The flyers keep shooting from a mile away offscreen and hit you. I can't react to an enemy I cannot see or realise that he is even there.
-there is simply to much stuff going on. I get that this is an action game but seriously... Tone it down a notch. I want to see what is happening and don't want to guess, what I am doing.

What I noticed also is that TECH seem to have zero effect. My Focus time is always the same, about 2-3 Seconds. What is up with that?

Isnt that the point of this or any game? If the enemy has no defense against you and your character has no chance of losing or being killed what would the point of the game be? The only thing this means of interrupting a combo is sometimes your attacks need changed up. Don't just hack and slash use the dodge button get some good hits in if possible jump out of the way and transform zoom away and come back at them transform into an attack as you reach them and start a new combo.

This I have to agree with at times mostly the later stages. The boss battles when you have all 5 autobots, multiple enemies or bosses you are fighting in a smaller arena with everybodies weapon effect going off at the same time is easily very confusing and at times unable to really see or pay attentiuon to what is happening on the screen.

There is a point in any Game, at least to me, where it begins to be unfair to the player. I don't have anything against challenging or hard games but they should at least support you with a flawless game mechanic.

And this --- and I am very sorry to say that right now--- is simply not the point. I get it, that I switch arround with combos... I have the system down and I guess I make very good use of it. The enemy should just not be able do nullify my rush or vehicle attacks, normal attacks... Yeah, from time to time this seems fair enough... But when I manage to land a complet string I should be rewarded with a finishing strike that no one is able to wash away. I expect that from a Game.

Maybe this is just me then.
