Having known a guy back in college who now played SC2 competitively (I think he still does, haven't talked to him in years but I looked him up a few months ago and was surprised to see dropping out of college to play LoL 24/7 somehow didn't screw his life over), his exact words were and I quote: "Campaign is really just the tutorial for multiplayer"

But SC2 isn't quite as prone to having problems as TFU did. Because no matter a player's own skill level, both they and their enemy start out a battle with the exact same setup: one level 1 HQ building and five resource miners. And each race has their own ultimates that can screw over anybody unlucky enough (Humans/Terrans can send in a cloaked unit to drop nukes, the Zerg are the namesake of horde tactics and Nydus Worms effectively provide near-guaranteed protection of entire armies from Points A to B, and the Protos spam the shit out of teleports, constructing pylons, and are particularly nasty when it comes to those carrier ships that in large enough numbers can crush a max level HQ to dust in seconds) so a player is NEVER truly without some chance of winning if they know what they can do in any situation.

TFU? Pretty sure those high level dudes have more armor and HP at least in comparison to the newbies who are simply trying to start the grind up the ranks. And when the only way to improve one's game experience is to repeatedly throw one's self into a wall made of game veterans who can one-shot you out of pure reflex...people aren't going to stick around for that.

I'm not trying to flame you or anything, but why are you so invested in defending this failed game? Like, what do you get out of white-knighting it to this degree?

From what we've seen in this thread, people hated the game for a wide range of reasons, isn't that answering your question without you trying to tear down every one of them?

I wouldn't say I hated it, but it was certainly a huge disappointment when they switched over to MOBA.

The whole thing I was looking forward to with Transformers Universe was exploring the universe first hand. I mean just off the top of my head:

    1. Have the game take place in a cold war environment so that areas can be explored by both factions

    2. Visiting the massive looking Metroplex city that you could see Transform into a mile high robot during a PVE event

    3. Exploring the wilds of Cybertron

    4. Taking a peek into the Decepticon underwater City (Trypticon PVE event)

    5. Visiting Quintessa

    6. Fighting in the Kaon pits (PVP)

    7. Iacon's racways (PVP Racing)

    8. Character pets of Headmasters , Targetmasters, Holomater/Human, Drones, Insecticons (like Bob) Crash Suit Human

    9. Explore the Lost Light

    10. Exploring Caminus

    11. Utilize common enemies from the mythology: Mech, Amonites, Spark Eaters, Functionists universe enemies, Black Block Consortia, DJD (and their troop building minions that I just made up:p ), Terrorcons (the zombie ones), Turbofoxes and other wild beasts, The swarm, Simple minded Predacons (the Beast Hunter type), Omega Sentinels, Space Pirates, etc.

I mean this turned into a 'wish list post', but there was so much potential with this game and they didn't even have to reinvent the wheel or anything, it could be the standard MMO fair. The only hurtle you had to get over was the individual Transformation customization component, which an expanded version of character customization seen in Fall of Cybertron coupled with color, face, hands, and size modification features would have been enough.
I still hope against hope that another company will try and tackle this untapped Transformers video game concept.
