    YouTube - Transformers Hoarders

My big brother and fellow board member voiceroy's massive Transformers collection. (The "hoarders" tag is just a joke, bro! ;)  )

One of the benefits of being a partner is that I can edit my own thumbnails. Hopefully it's not too misleading.

Sorry. Seemed to fit the concept of "collections."

It's cool, bud :)  Collections is for members to showcase their own collections, though. Also, it's more of a "showcase" type forum versus a "hey check out my friend's stuff" forum.

I see. Just so everyone knows, I don't purposefully post videos in either the wrong area or make posts that fit "gray areas." I truthfully read the guidelines before posting. I'm usually just in such a hurry because of other business that I have to speed read. My apologies again.

Well, technically, it was appropriate in the "Collection Showcase" forum, because this video showcases a large chunk of my collection. And I is a member.

But also technically, it should have been linked in my existing collection thread. However, I don't mind it being a separate thread for discussion, if only so I can defend that I am NOT a hoarder, nor am I a hyper-obsessed mentally unstable person.

What Jon doesn't tell you in this video is that:

    - I am not a hoarder. I just have very limited display space. (I'm lucky that my wife even allows me to display my DVD collection in the living room.) Jon has also witnessed me giving away boxes of items from my own collection at Dragon*Con. And my own feedback thread linked in my sigline below shows that I have sold and traded a lot of stuff over the last few years. Hoarders don't do that.

(And yes, I got the joke, Jon, even if it was a tad jarring to see that as the video title after you downplayed that you just wanted to "shoot video of my collection." I should have known better. :gen069:  )

    - We added a room onto the back of our house for a new office space, which is not yet completed. When it's done, much of what's in storage will finally be opened and displayed on shelves I am building for the new room.

    - Only a 3rd of the boxes stored in my garage contain Transformers-related product. It's hard to see in the video, but there's actually baby furniture and an office desk stored under the boxes, which takes up a lot of space. The rest of the boxes are stuff I used to collect before I got married -- it ranges from Star Wars, to Superhero stuff, to various and sundry other cartoon and movie memorabilia, much of which I no longer have any interest in and have slowly been selling/trading off over the last few years.

    - I wouldn't allow Jon to shoot video in the office because it's a horrible mess. A lot of stuff got moved in there while the new office was under construction. And it's not "full of Transformers" either. What it is is full of clutter, and the TFs just happen to be on top of the clutter so it looks like it's full of TFs.

And just remember, Jon, that turnabout is fair play. Expect a video response in the future...

Certainly feel free to post the video yourself in your own collection thread as well. The "technicalities" you mention are the same ones I saw when the thread was moved. :)

No one thinks that. People are really impressed by your awesome collection. And I made it painfully obvious in the video: "Kudos, my friend... Big brothers have better collections than little brothers..." and the terms "crazy sick" and "insane" are terms for awesomeness not insults. Who would watch a video called "my brother's collection in boxes???" Where's the draw? Where's the pizazz? ;)  And feel free to make a video response! It's about time you made a new video for your YouTube account! And after all the subs I got you! Women want to be with you and men want to BE you... okay, that is probably not true, but most folks 'round here would give a left foot or two in order to have an epic collection like that. You don't have to be so sensitive about the title. I'm not actually suggesting that you are a hoarder in real life. Dad maybe, but not you.

Jon, you gotta remember that you told me you were just going to "shoot video of my collection." Yes, I'm aware that you have a reputation for making funny videos, so I really should have expected you to put a spin on it.

But the "hoarders" title was a bit hard to take on the first impression. I mean, tables turned, how would you have taken that without any advance notice?

You'll just have to forgive me for being a little overly sensitive to the "hoarders" label. There's some history there that I'd rather not discuss in public. Let's just say I've been teased about it one too many times by relatives.

And you should have seen the garage before I organized it the weekend before your visit. No, wait, you shouldn't have. It was a massive, disorganized mess, like a nightmare maze. Even the cats got lost in there. I found a frog skeleton behind a stack of boxes (which Scooter probably killed and hid there).

You can't quite tell from the video because I had pulled some boxes out to find some items for a local trade, but now my wife can actually park her car in the garage. I freed up that much space. I even hauled three carloads to a local charity for donations.

My wife is very happy about this.

I dunno...people who like to look at boxes?

True, but I also wanted to make it easier for potential clients to see my one performance video that's on there. So there was actually some logic behind that.

I think maybe that's more mom than dad. Dad likes giving stuff away, he just doesn't like to deal with organizing it. Mom's the one who doesn't like to let anything go. When they moved grandmother in, I was helping organize that back bedroom and found a box of coupons that had expired like 10 years before.

Well, that's good to hear. Incidentally, I would love to see video of your amazing collection. The photos just don't do it justice. It's too epic.

Well, if I did that right now, I'd have to title it something like "Attack of the Big Blue Totes" or something :lol

I'll be documenting my collection at some point with newer photos and maybe a video. There are certainly others who have more epic collections than me. I've probably got 'em beat on the Alt/BT custom end though. Except for deejemon. I think he's the only one who tops me in that area :lol

I had no idea that the title would be offensive. I just thought since the TV show was relatively new that the title might attract a few more viewers. No harm done, I changed the title. I didn't know you had been given a hard time about "hoarding." Sorry. And I promise, if the tables had been turned, it wouldn't have bothered me. There's a big difference between showing off AWESOME stuff and just showing off someone's clutter. My collection is unorganized right now, and had you been making a video of it because you thought it was the coolest thing ever, I would not have been offended.I honestly didn't mean to cause controversy.

S'okay. No harm done, except for the few idiot, rude, tacky comments from viewers on your YT page which thankfully are easily deleted.

And you're welcome to change the title of your video back to "hoarders," now that I've had time to digest it. I also got like 100 subscribers off it in day, so I really appreciate the plug and that makes my whiny complaint a moot point.

You're welcome. It's not the first time that I've pimped your channel.

I'd love to update my collection photos or even make a video "tour" of it, but I suffer the same fate right now. Since moving most of my figures are in those big blue Sterlite totes that Wal-Mart has in stock.

As for the "hoarders" thing, I have been told that a few times even by my own family members... However, it doesn't bother me one bit since I just consider those people ignorant and full of s**t. Personally there's a big difference IMO between "hoarding" and collecting. I think because people like us collect toys those who don't know any better view it as "hoarding" a bunch of worthless toys & junk, but those same people are awestruck & will drool over more "adult" related collections like classic cars, jewelry, coins, or even sports memorabilia.
