Yeah it would be neat to get that early part of the scene completed. He'll be a while yet though I suspect...

Can't believe I missed this until now. Great work.

Loved the Spike animation with the MP BB.

Always liked that scene. Guess it was seeing Megs, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave together on Cybertron pre-Earth.

It's very inspiring and lovely and I must say it makes me wanna watch G1 again. And is it me or MP figs in those backgrounds look better than the actual transformers in G1 cartoon? :D

    Thanks man :)

I have a thread somewhere on here devoted entirely to G1 toon backdrop art which I restored; I think it often gets overlooked and unfairly lumped in with 'dat crappy drawn cartuhn'... There are some really beautiful paintings particularly in season one (of Cybertron's landscapes for example). So yeah, taking out the simplistic cell animation and putting in MPs probably allows us to appreciate the backgrounds a little more.

Also, I often pull a few tricks to help the backdrops fit in with 3D figures better, such as blurring areas that are meant to be in the distance or foreground.

He's not wrong, there a few shots on the last page of a few of my MP's in front of the backgrounds.

I love those backgrounds so so much! And yeah if you create the feeling of depth in After Effects or some other software it does give you the perfect 3D'esque feeling that goes along with the figures marvelously! Beautiful!

    Such a great video!

Has anyone thought about setting up a paypal account for fans to contribute? Just to help production costs etc. I would love to support the makers of these vids.

And it works surprisingly well :thumb
I do almost everything on Photoshop, never used AE or that kind of thing. How easy is it?
I've wondered about using YouTube's advert system (I believe you get a nominal amount for every watch or something) but on such short clips the ads would end up being longer than the main feature! Certainly if I get as far as a whole episode (ok maybe half of one!) I'll do that.

In the meantime, if anyone wants to show support you can 'like' my Facebook page (Geekings Cards) and maybe even buy some art :)  (Mods feel free to edit this if necessary).

Haha I've no idea how easy it is in comparison to Photoshop cause I've never really tried photoshop. I got along with illustrator instead but in after effects blurring certain areas and manipulating layers by masking them out to create a 3D'esque feeling is quite easy :)  15-20mins of work tops I'd say.
