Because Soundwave's design is the same in both games, and the Fall of Cybertron line was the one that was out when the figure was released
Deluxe has floppy feet, the Voyager one can eject minion "discs" that auto transform when they hit the ground.
Mine are solid nice and ratchety. I have just the Soundwave, Soundblaster, Blaster the gimmick isn't fantastic, they should have made the hole a few millimeters bigger around so the tapes could eject easier. I would buy it anther time if they made Twincast, I though they might since they made Soundblaster so fast. I know collectors know who SoundBlaster is but random guy that kinda remembers Soundwave from when he was little probably has no clue who he is casually buying them. Some of the handles and holes are loose or too tight, it seems to be common in all the modern figures.
War for Cybertron superior; Fall of Cybertron inferior. I find the shoulder joints on FoC very distracting...and, as a voyager, he doesn't scale well with deluxes...unless you like your Soundwave to tower over everyone else. I also don't need the spring-loaded, awkwardly shaped data-discs in my life. But if you can't afford the War for Cybertron version (I couldn't), then a cheap FoC will do.
The WFC mold is a solid well built toy. One of the last imo. It's only fault is the lack of minions and capacity to store them. The FOC mold is OK but not as good. IMO it's an upscaled and simplified version of the deluxe with the ability to store those stupid spring loaded minions that are both ugly and gimmicky. The worst part about this mold to me is the general hollowness and lack of heft. It just feels like one of those blown up KO's that you find at the dollar store.
WFC Soundwave is one of the two figures that got me back into collecting, I'm glad I was able to pick him up at retail. Brilliant toy. As for his larger iteration, it's far from bad. The weakest part is the plunger for his gimmick. I mainly picked him up because I can't NOT buy a Soundwave figure.
I'm a pretty big fan of the FOC Soundwave...enough that I have the TakTomy purple one, the Hasbro Soudwave, Hasbro Soundblaster, and I have Blaster. I kinda want to get the TakTomy Soundblaster since he is nice and metallicy almost black with purple instead of yellow highlights...
I agree with this. I got the FOC to replace the WFC but ended up getting rid of the FOC and keeping WFC. They may be the same design but for some reason the smaller one looks superior.
G1 Soundwave and Buzzsaw were my favorite transformers as a kid. So when I seen the Fall of Cybertron Soundwave and all the disks on the pegs at my Walmart, I HAD to have him. I mainly got him for the "cassette" gimmick that takes me back to my childhood. That being said, I bought the deluxe War for Cybertron Soundwave when it came out. As a stand alone toy, I like the deluxe version better. If I had the voyager version and no disks, it wouldn't be as cool. Take that for what it's worth.
love the WFC mold. I bought the soundblaster FOC version just so I didn't have two versions of soundwave. In my head I justified the FOC purchase as soundblaster is supposed to be an upgraded soundwave or something so I assume he got bigger lol
