    I never thought I would own any of the Japanese Beast Wars toys, but then I bought Bigmos, and it is now my goal to own all of the Insectrons.

    For me, its Takara Tomy reissues of Encore Devastator and 2010 Predaking. I'd never thought of owning 2 of my favorite combiners as part of my growing collection.

    Honestly, I never thought we'd get Classics. I really thought the best that G1 fans were ever going to get were scattered reissues and the occasional so-so homage.

    My story is pretty similar. I never dared ask my parents for a Fort Max when he came out when I was a kid, though I always lusted after one. When I got back into collecting, he was already nearly a grand to two grand (for MISB), but I always told myself, "One day..."

    Then your second paragraph. I could just copy-paste it. I LOVE my Fort Max, even if he just stands there in my toy room next to Metroplex, looking all tall and awesome.

    DOTM Jetwing Optimus Prime. I don't like the look of the movie toys but got him as a door buster and think he is a super awesome toy. Also, never thought I would find a yellow and blue Mexican Windy or a green and purple Estrela pickup.

    Many years ago, I had wanted Metals Ravage from Beast wars. Then I became an adult and used tax money to buy him when i was still a bachelor. I have played with him a bit but he is still the biggest prize of my collection, my holy grail.

    I notice that a lot of you have posted things that "you thought you could never afford, but they happened in your lap"...when I read the OP's post to mean..."things so weird that you normally wouldn't think to collect them"...

    In that vain, for me it was the Mc Donald's Happy Meal Beast Wars toys. I kinda' like em'. :eek:

    I thought I'd never own any Rescue Bots but seeing the monster truck Prime I gave in. Sure it's simple and could be worse but I always wanted a monster truck Prime.

    Kreo for me as well, specifically Kreons. I didn't own a single set, but two Christmases ago my in-laws got me the Megatron Kreo set since I already owned all the retail stuff (that I do collect) that was out at the time. Been going crazy tracking down every little Kreon (even bought the Devastator set just for Ironhide!) ever since.

    I liken it to introducing heroin to crack addict.

    There is a few that I have that I never thought I would ever have. Between eBay and other board members I have Classics Ultra Magnus with FP armor, FP Colossus with the ROTF Bruticus, and numerous Botcon figures.
