Big rework. With the expansion of 3P into non-US G1 MP, I've ordered the list into first appearance of characters in TV shows. I've also broken out G2 and Diaclone variants. If a Japanese character has a Hasbro toy with an English name, the Japanese name is now listed first [JP] followed by the English name [EN].

Hopefully this should help people focus their collections more easily.

Why isn't MP-08 Grimlock listed under "Old Scale"? We have yet to get a new Grimlock V2 to scale with MP-10.

 

Yeah was considering doing this. The things that held him there a little longer were being fine in dino mode, and the Scoria disco boots.

 

Update list there is 2 versions of the official masterpiece megatron.

 

Both MP-5 and MP-5G are in the list already, and are in the old scale/superseded section.

I'm thinking of getting back in the collecting game after seeing some beautiful renditions of my favorite childhood stuff with the MP series and their 3P variants but was so confused about all the terms and acronyms you guys were using (after being out of comics and everything for so long), so thank you so much for this. Although there are definitely more questions and decisions I'll have to make, this guide helps tremendously as I think I'd like to stick with MP or similar.

 

I'd call that another vote for making this a sticky.  

 

Please add DX9 D07 Tyrant as a potential substitute for Galvatron.

 

Why hasn't the combiner wars devastator been added as a possible substitute?

Unite Warriors Devastator is already there (the Takara version). Added the Hasbro.

Also added Toyworld Constructicons, Dr Wu DW-P25 & Shadow Fisher upgrade kits for MP-10.
