Badly Wanted

Still keeping fingers and toes crossed for TT or 3rd party makers to come out with g1 cartoon accurate versions of:

Jazz
Mirage
Sunstreaker

Would be really disappointed if no one makes them. Also, not sure who made these, but they are awesome. Did a google search and found these pics of an MP-11 based Blitzwing. To me, its the perfect size, fits with the other seekers, and is clearly doable. Just a matter of someone making them available as more than just a custom. On that note, if the person responsible is on here, or someone can replicate this, Id be very interested in commissioning one.

Too bad about no Astro train as well.

 

"Best fit so far" is certainly up for debate on some of those, but I can understand what you are trying to do here.

As a G1 and Masterpiece enthusiast, I certainly appreciate a thread like this. Great job, bud.

Edit: I have a suggestion. Can you add the combiner name ie. Menasor to the Stunticons section, Predaking to Predacons section, etc...

Inferno: Hasbro Universe 2.0 Inferno (with Maiden Japan upgrade parts)
Grapple: TakaraTomy United Grapple (with Maiden Japan upgrade parts)
Powerglide: Xtransbots X1 "Glider"
Wheelie: C-80 Superalloy Wheelie "Survivalist"
Spike Witwicky: Super Collection Figure/Heroes of Cybertron "Autobot Espionage Team" Spike, Takara History Collection Spike, or the figure included with ArtFeather Bumblebee. They're all about the same scale.

Also, while you've acknowledged the upcoming third-party Skyfire toys in development, I think it's worth listing Jetfire separately, as many use Hikaru's 1/48 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie as a Masterpiece upgrade of the G1 toy.

 

Yep! I'm holding fire until we get MP Bumble, as that will be the standard for the rest of the other characters. Also, I'm certainly willing to wait on TakaraTomy on the ones that I think that are likely. Shogo Hasui already designed a MP Drag (Huffer), for example that almost made it into the MP Convoy package. I wouldn't be surprised to see that revisited.

 

I has to be the Minibots that have a problem with MP, I highly doubt Takara will make MP figures of the Minibots. But as I said, I'm replacing them with 3rd party figures. The only problem I'm having is Windcharger and there is nothing in Chug or 3rd party I can use.

 

Awesome list! Really nice effort put into this. I'll have to keep checking for when there's finally a substitute in Galvatron's spot.

 

Almost everything added, I have a question about JetFire though. My understanding is that SkyFire is native to the G1 animation, whereas JetFire was the modified, rebranded Macross toy intended to be the same character. Is this correct?

If so, perhaps I should remove the reference to JetFire, since technically he didn't make the animation, nor satisfies the exception of TT/Hasbro having made an MP of him.

If this isn't the case, there's DaCa Toy's Titan to consider as well. I'm beginning to see why people get stuck in technicalities with these things.

I just wanted to share some of my "substitutes" in case you may think their good enough to add to your list here.

Silverbolt - Universe Henkei Ultra class Silverbolt (may not be in scale)
Stepper/Ricochet - Alternators Ricochet (may not be in scale, no Targetmaster)
Warpath - Generations Warpath (just a stand in, may not be in scale)

On a side note, I think a "*" should be added to the suggestion of Generations Metroplex and Project X. Just to mention "they could work as a separate Masterpiece Scale of their own."

 

I think you should leave him listed, that or set as a separate entry.

Jetfire could be listed as a "US ONLY" Hasbro character, due to the Licensing agreement that brought him into existence. (I personally use him as a stand-in in my collection, since he wasn't an "in-show" character.)

 

I'm glad you made this list so people who say its a safe bet that we'll get all g1 characters eventually can see how big a statement (and thus just how stupid a statement) that is.

 

He's pretty tall by the looks of things (maybe 2.5-inches?), but given the lack of choices, I've added him as an option.

The Silverbolt doesn't quite do it I think. Stepper's outside the English airing of the G1 cartoon. Warpath does reasonably well, so I'll put him in.

The listing of Generations Metroplex and Project Genesis was exactly with that intent. But I'll make it a bit clearer  

I'm conflicted, but I guess I'll have to treat Jetfire as one of those weird exceptions that sort of has to be dealt with.

Yes, but that one's just for the movie line. (not to mention it was taken from the Hasbro Leader class mold) This listing is for Masterpiece (or close to it) figures of the G1 "US" cast. Movie-verse would be a different setting.

 

We will be cursed if the MP-21 turns out to be the movie design. On the other hand I will still buy it, but I will also cry =(

 

Not sure if this was mentioned already. What about having the Seacons (Piranacon) on the list? They were G1.

 

i can't sub anything for mps. "almost" and "kinda" are not words that i associate with them. classics, sure. MPs, nope. the only substitute i will get is quakewave. the rest aren't accurate enough for me

 

Not for a Masterpiece display really.

 

^as characters, i don't think as toys, and going for "not for a masterpiece display" how does warden fit for example? looks nothing like the g1 character. For an IDW/Classics Display, he's perfect, for MP, not even close.
