Thank goodness for these forums! I fixed mine easily. Popping the legs off are easy, you don't have to pull the legs off AT ALL. Just move each leg inward, like how a woman would cross her legs. It pops off the hip effortlessly if you do it like this.

Just opened mine, got annoyed, found this thread, and then fixed it.

NOW... Any fix for the horrible arm articulation?

 

The shoulder joint limitation is due to its shape and design, their is nothing you can do about that.

 

It's such a cool looking figure... with a terribly frustrating design!

 

I just move the over-the -shoulder cannons back, and his arms move fine(enough) at the shoulder.

 

Has anyone actually contacted Hasbro, for a replacement but to let them know it's a qc issue.

I didn't think mine did either- at first.
But he had a horrible center of gravity and wouldn't stand well. bThe I remembered this issue...

 

Dang it… wish I'd read this before I ended up snapping the hip peg off mine. Oh well, at least I'll know how to do it properly when I get a replacement. THanks for the advice!

 

Couple things:

1 issue people seem to have is getting him to stand properly. And I've noticed this being missed I n most pix I've seen: there's a bend under the knee joint. Part of the transformation. if you bend this in even farther, it removes that gap in the legs, and pushes his "knee pads" out further(and won't hug his thighs). This gives him some better stability in mine.

Next, the shoulders. The joints actually can extend out from the shoulder a bit, and allow the arm to raise more to the side

 

Hey, I just found that my Skids has *2* right hips. So, does anyone out there have 2 left hips and want to swap? Or should I just return it and hope I can find another with a matched set?

 

My Skids came perfect but does the assembly error affect transformation?

For some strange reason i love this figure.

 

This is one of those figures that can be so frustrating. It looks great, but it just has so many problems when it comes to poseability and stability.. It reminds me a lot of Universe Hot Shot in that regard. It's the arms that kill me... Unfortunately, we'll never have a fix for those... I don't regret the purchase at all, and just kind of standing straight up in a group he's fine, but at the same time I'm glad I got Alternators Skids as well.

 

I think the words you are looking for is piece of crap. Just kidding (sort of). I'm jaded because I broke the ball joint at the peg trying to fix my misassembled figure last night. I really didn't use much force. Bought another and will try again tonight.

Seriously though, I know it's old news and complaining but man some of these idw inspired deluxes are awfully spindly to say the least. I wish I could keep myself from buying them but I can't.

No, it didn't effect mine anyways. It just effects how Skids can pose this legs in robot mode.
