Yeah, he'll probably become Nightracer if I don't find anyone that matches better...

Oh, right, forgot to mention that BH Bulkhead is Brawn, and the G1-color Arcee from the NYCC set has been dubbed 'Snow Bunny' by my wife. And if I ever do pick up BH Shark Megatron, he'll be Gnaw.

So l've basically picked up three FOC Skywarp figures in a recent TF lot acquisition...was originally going to sell or trade them off...but have decided to keep them and repurpose them as seeker warriors under FOC Shockwave...so now l'm wondering what l should name them...any thoughts?

 

You could just call them Air Warriors, after the G1 generic Seeker crowd-fillers. They had a primarily purple color scheme too.

 

I do a lot of black repaints or straight repaints (no retools) as evil twins/Shatter glass

 

Take advantage of repaints.... especially if it's of a main character that gets a newer figure.

This works great for the Seekers... since they're always TONS of them out there... I've got a decent collection of them now, and at times the off-color schemes lend themselves to repurposing as other Seekers.

I think the prior works as a repurposing for the latter.

I usually grab a mold that I like (but don't that character represented) and make them someone new. AOE Hound is going to be... Bulldog. yeah. yeeeeeeaaah... Bulldog.

And hopefully the new Roadbuster gets a repaint, because I think I'd like that mold but those colors are too distinctive to be anyone but him.

 

Does it share trait with a character? If yes, repurpose.

IE, Murderbee and BH Night strike Bumblebee are Shatteed Glass Goldbugs, and pretty much every Thundercracker is Powerlinx Starscream.

BH Sharkticon Megatron is Energon Sharkticon, but thats a childhood thing.

 

Only ones I have that aren't sold as the characters I see them as on my shelves right now are:

Prime Dark Energon Wheeljack as Slicer, first Prime figure I got and have to say the mold itself is quite awesome.

BH Voyager Shockwave just for scale and he actually looks like he could feasibly fit in with a classic/gen setting. I have the deluxe but after watching the last season of Prime I couldn't resist for a good price.

Also will be getting the retail releases of the AOE Dinobots and thinking their in the Generation 2 scheme. Wish they would have thought to make Slag(Slug) Red but I can live with the purple.

 

Yeah, l kinda wanted them to be than generics...was thinking individual names as well...

Based on the resemblance that http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Crosscut_(Decepticon) in his original (MVL) appearance (IMO) has to G1 Shockwave...along with the fact that FOC Shockwave was redecoed/retooled into FOC Air Raid who inturn was redecoed/retooled into Timelines Brimstone...noting that Brimstone has a similar color scheme to Decepticon Crosscut in his second (IDW) appearance...who thinks repurposing Timelines Brimstone as http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Crosscut_(Decepticon) makes obvious sense?

 

Pretty sure that Timelines Brimstone's deco is based on Cybertron Brimstone, especially since he's a 'pirate,' akin to Brimstone in the Aligned continuity (who was, iirc, inspired by Cybertron Brimstone). Which would make sense, since Cannonball is also a Star Seeker pirate in Aligned, similar to the Botcon one.

 

My FOC Soundwave is with the classic Decepticons.

Other then that I have kept each figure with their respective line.

 

Not saying who he was based on...was asking with his similar color scheme and him having a flying alt mode...SW/AR/BS being mold brothers...Crosscuts original Marvel appearance looking like a generic Shockwave...what would others peoples (mostly the thoughts of others who repurpose) thoughts be on repurposing him as Decepticon Crosscut...because as is l'd not need him in my collection...that's all...

What would be some good ideas on repurposing Universe (2008) Roadbuster, Revenge of the Fallen Whirl and Universe (2008) (RED) Powerglide? They either are or will be replaced in my collection as themselves...so if l keep them it'll have to be as someone else. Any ideas...

 

i use to be strict about repurposing. then after seeing IDW comics do it a lot I've since gone nuts with the idea. here are a few

ROTF Lockdown as g1 lockdown (official via drift series, drawn a little different)
Prime vehicon as g1 vehicon (official via MTMTE)
ROTF Bludgeon as g1 bludgeon (who hasn't done this?)
DOTM space case as g1 space case
DOTM guzzle as g1 guzzle (just because of the last stand details on it)
DTOM powerglide as g1 powerglide
PCC huffer as g1 huffer ( i dont like it but iam out of options)
ROTF deadlift as gobots spoons (eh, close enough)
2010 chopsaw as generic junkion
2007 elita-1 as nancy (wreck-gar's girlfriend)
dark energon wheeljack as g1 slicer (just need stickers)
2007 armorhide as ironhide's boss from the transformers iornhide #2 (looks like a earth mode of the character)

 

No guidelines - I own them, they are what I say they are. If I want to jam a tiny dress on one my OPs and call him Barbie, well, that's nobody's business but my own.
