Ditto! It's bad enough that I also have Black Rodimus Convoy to worry about too! :(

I was just re-arranging my Masterpiece figures today and when I moved Rodimus his arm was just dangling there. It hasn't broken off yet, but I think if I just look at it again it's going to fall off.

Dude, is yours the TakaraTomy version 2.0? I'm thinking of picking up the 3P Carry to fill in as my MP Rodimus.

I'm okay with the new MP-28 Hot Rodimus as my 'default' character. :lol

Carry would be bought if we had more Studio Ox stylized Autobot toys to go with his unique exaggerated design. :lol

i honestly don't understand how anyone could display carry with other masterpiece figures.. even other third party masterpiece figures. it's just wrong all over the place.

also.. who knows.. perhaps at some point we'll see an official rodimus prime.

i was never a fan of rodimus on the show.. but i absolutely loved hot rod as a kid.. so, i think my MP-09 has only been rodimus like once.. MP-09's hot rod head/face is perfect.

i'm SOO happy that we're finally getting an in scale (a bit more accurate) version of hot rod.... that probably won't crumble over time. i've been lucky so far with MP-09 (i have the initial run) the leg panel is a bit loose, but other than that there's nothing that's broken.

I'm more of a Rodimus Prime fan as compared to Hot Rod.

I honestly don't mind Carry's design because it does give him a rather 'detailed' and more futuristic look.

Its issues like this that are pushing me towards 3P products. I know not all of them are QC issue free but they do provide alternatives.

Seeing this thread resurface has made me check mine. Luckily, all 3 are still intact.

huh?.. 3rd parties have just as many problems as official figures.. if not more these days.. ever since MP-09 and maybe the paint on sideswipe, masterpiece figures haven't had any really major quality control problems.

you can like carry.. i just don't think he fit's in with official figures, or other third party masterpiece type figures.. i mean, tyrant looks fantastic, from x-transbots.. apollyon looks great, andras and eligos look awesome.. but carry seriously doesn't fit in with any of them. it's super inaccurate and the aesthetic is completely off.

i'd rather have a masterpiece rodimus with glued on arms than a perfectly quality controlled carry.

but hey, that's just my opinion.. if you like it, that's cool, but the aesthetics truly don't fit.

    Oh God no!

My Tak MP Rodimus might have more issues than repairs I already have to do?!?!?!?!

I hope not, I'm still so pissed about the foot spring shit he is shoved in the back corner of a display case buried by other figures:lol  One day of extreme calm I will attempt repairs.

Now Hasbro Hot Rod......that sumabitch had blown out shoulder syndrome straight out the box, oh wait, it was already blown out in the box.....

My Takara MP-09 had his right arm fall off for no apparent reason last year, and he was a version 2. I did buy the replacement parts, but after seeing what a pain they can be to install, I shoved him in a drawer. I have a Hasbro one but he's staying in vehicle mode forever now. It's an amazing looking toy, but the materials aren't up to the design's complexity and the result is often shoddy.

Thankfully, none of the other recent MPs I own have had any serious QC issues. My MP Wheeljack has really bad paint chips on the Alitalia logos on his rear fenders, but I'll probably just throw some Repolabels over the damage. Otherwise, it's all been really minor stuff like small paint chips, a scratch here and there, or a little paint rub, all things that are easy to fix or overlook. Even my Hasbro MP Seekers and Prowl are pretty good.

I have a version 2 takara (confirmed box code and all that). It was great when I got it, checked it out gently and then I put it back in the box for later display once I get my set up going...that was a few years back.

Anywho...read this thread and went "hmmm" and opened the box. Never been touch or moved but his arm was just laying there in the plastic at his side. Probably blew off and wouldn't have even known it. :/

So yup...version 2 does it for sure. One arm is still nice and smooth and the other blew the joint between the ratchets. Its pretty clear that the spring they put in is WAY over powered for that weak little piece of plastic. I mean it was hard to compress between my fingers so that much tension just rips it off over time.

Fixed it with a small thin screw with a large flat head that fit back into the remaining plastic and reconnected the joint. I also put a much smaller, lighter spring in there between it to give it play (gun spring...another fun hobby...you always have spare springs around when you collect guns). Moves fine and works but obviously not as smoothly as the original. I messed with the other one waiting for it to come off but it never did...got pretty rough too cause I was like "if you're gonna let go, do it now while I have the tools and parts".

Oh well...at least its fixable but still a big disappointment from something that expensive.

Wow, I was just looking through my hub, and noticed this thread resurfaced.

Yes, my Takara Rodimus Prime broke about three years ago.
Ironically I was going to do a toy review of him for my toy blog, when the shoulder just snapped off.
I don't even remember how now (I'm sure it's mentioned on the first page) but I know it wasn't being rough with it.
I actually bought replacement shoulder parts for him, but so far I haven't made the attempt. I still need to buy something in order to push the cotter pins out.
I have a feeling this will be a project for me, and I just haven't found the time yet.

I was going to buy the upcoming MP Hot Rod as he is one of my childhood favorites BUT I am going to see if Takara does an updated Rodimus Prime. Then again could bite the bullet and buy the Carry 3rd party with his trailer part of him... only gripe is they chromed the wheels on the Nemesis Carry and not the Rodimus. HELLO, Hotrod and Rodimus were all about the flames and chrome!

Well I've been sitting on it for a long time but I FINALLY got around to removing the broken shoulder piece (I had to saw the remaining piece off) And I replaced it with the 3rd party shoulder piece, and so far Rodimus' is holding together well enough.
In hindsight, I kind of regret getting this Rodimus Prime. But he's good enough for display for now.

I should note that the first release of the MP-9 Rodimus Convoy did contain QC issues. This is why they went back and did a second release. But, with materials, certain aspects will not always have the same durability. So even if this is the second release, always expect something to happen due to the combination of time, age, and environment.

Other than that... It is always a bummer to have something bad happen to the stuff you want to enjoy. :(

My Superlink Grand Convoy leg just fell off. FOR NO REASON! Heh. Seriously, it did though. I can see that the ratchet that holds it on just broke in about three pieces. No idea why.
