Yeah, this is more than likely what happened.

So unless this occurs more widespread, with multiples of the same figures at the same store, I refuse to add it as a "real" retail release.

At least with the Target release of the Walmart exclusive AOE One-Step Changer Stinger, there were multiple sightings.

I think Quickslinger and Brakeneck were returns but I don't suspect malicious intent. I even wound up with extras and had considered returning a set myself. I ended up placing an additional order since I didn't trust the Amazon back door order. Once my Amazon order arrived my second order already shipped and I was unable to cancel. Still debating if I need this second set or not. I have a feeling we may see scattered returns of these guys out there over the next few months.

Quickslinger and Brake-Neck each have unique DPCI codes in Target's computers, which tells me Hasbro ships them in straight cases of eight, not a combined "wave" of 4/4. If somebody finds eight of each on a store peg, then we may have something. Until then, I agree these are probably just returns that made their way to the shelf.

Created a new archive for unreleased toys, covering the same eras as the archives for the released toys.

The RID Mega 1-step Optimus toy has been found in Australia by some senior members to trust the sighting, but I'm still waiting on photo proof for others.

Takara toys have actual release dates so having one isn't as important. There are "things out this month in Japan" threads that someone posts every month though. This month's date is the 27th.
