Wow...That was quite a reveal huh? I haven't seen this site get stirred up that fast in awhile.

But before we beat Hasbro down for this idea, lets do what we do best, Shall we?

    SPECULATE WITH AUTHORITY

I have a boy. He is 5 now. We play TFs a lot. He likes Lego/Kreo..GIJOE..Starwars..Mostly TFs.

I have a Pretty Large collection. When its "daddy son time" or he does something positive..as a reward, I'll tell him "you can go and pick out ANY of my transformers and we can play with them" I let him too..Sometimes he will play with Alternators..or Human Alliance..he LOVES all things human alliance where the figure interacts with the human...

I have Alternators..MPs...Leaders..voyagers..deluxes up the wazoo..

He will ALWAYS go for cyberverse. he LOVES cyberverse. I see it so much, that I have thought since DOTM that cyberverse is the new key to getting kids back in. The new cyberverse is almost like a 3 3/4 action figure that transforms..and now every one comes with a weapon? HELL YES..Id be all over them as a kid. Some of my most all time fav G1ers are MINIBOTs.

When we play..we don't have to take a 5 minute time out to transform..He can transform a lot of my big ones..but he likes to do it himself, and do it fast..Cyberverse fills that role.

So they are going to upsize Legends.

Before we go batshit crazy, Think of the possibilities 1st..

    ROTF Devestator upsized? Yes please.
Wheeljacks ship upsized? Ill take two.
Cyberverse Megatron upsized? Could be the best megatron made in YEARS.

NOW...Im gunna toss a curve ball here.
For those that don't know, Last year, Hasbro sneaked in a subline of GIJOE figures that were "DOLLAR GENERAL EXCLUSIVES" The packaging was not bad, And they were "budget" figures...just happens that the GIJOE fans are carpet crawling DG's like a crackhead on a 3 day dry spell to get these "budget" figures. They sell em for $6...and they CANT MAKE ENOUGH OF THEM.

Im gunna call it now, and say these may very well be something like that. They may be "dollar store" exclusives. I heard everyone say the price point was $12...But if these come out at a dollar store for $8 I think it could be rather successful.

This could be a great way to get some of the older legends that got passed by like warpath and other really good legends.

I, Myself don't see these sitting in stores like walmart or target..I bet they will be either a store exclusive, or a Dollar general/ Dollar store exclusive.

How about a decent discussion about these, with our usual rampant speculation on some of the possible BENEFITS of them doing this?
People always say "Hasbro's answer to 3rd parties" type stuff..maybe this is a direct answer to "upsized KO's". Could the timing of a certain online seller that specialized in upsized KO's getting the hammer have anything to do with this move?

Why are you still reading this?!?!? you have rampant speculation to do!!

For the people complaining about the new BH deluxes

Did you guys ever think the reason for the new BH deluxes is:
1- it's targeted towards younger kids on purpose
2- it was done a cost cutting measure

    But most important of all:
3- the cost savings was used to strengthen the generations line

To me, if they had quality deluxes for the BH line (which is for a dead cartoon), then we would never would have gotten the Titan metroplex or any other of the quality generations stuff.

Yeah, I agree with you. The deluxes are placeholders between the movie 4 line and Prime. I just hope Hasbro doesn't get uppity and think it's OK to use upscaled cyberverse as deluxes in future mainlines

    Whoa, Alucard talking sense?

Just kidding man, you nailed it. These aren't going to be replacing the deluxe and voyagers we know. Just supplementing a currently unfilled niche in their target demographics.

Why are you calling "rationality" "defending" and "toys aimed for younger children" "monstrocities?"

I don't get the hate. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Hell, everyone was counting on the Prime line being dead. Who cares if they make crappy Deluxes, we got great representations of damn near every core character.

It's wait and see. Are those oversized legends going to be $10 or $15. If they are $15 and are not bought by parents and kids, and the whole TF line takes a step back, then I'll be pissed.

I feel like if they really wanted to save money for generations toys then the best way is not making a crappy toyline to a show that would be finished by the time the figures come out. Just focus on generations. Kids will buy toys no matter what. They see a name of a character they like and they will buy it.

I have just the predacons left for the Prime/BH line and i'm done, I don't want any of the repaints/retools whatever of anything I already have and now i'm thinking of skipping Predaking for the blue version of him instead and be happy with him as my Predaking. So I welcome these versions of figures so that way I can save for the Generations line and the MP's. I'm so happy the kids are getting the short end of the stick this year. I know it's sad to say but, that means it's better for the collectors and kids will be happy with just about anything they get so... no harm no fowl as far as I see it.

Yeah, if these oversized Legion toys existing helps Rhinox, Waspinator, Sandstorm, and all of the other awesome things that have and will come out around now exist, then I think I can live with it. After all, no one is going to force me to buy these.

I agree, which is why I might even buy a couple of these simplified figures. Most likely for my nephew, who I still think is a little young for the more complex ones, but one or two for my collection too. Predaking and Optimus actually look pretty cool to me, and I'm tempted to get Smokescreen just to display him in alt-mode.

That said, this discussion will most likely just end up a bitch fest. People aren't going to stop complaining about Hasbro's decisions, even when you present logical reasoning behind those decisions. There's a three word phrase that would work wonders here, but it's a phrase I can no-longer stand.

Tbh, I may buy a couple of these 'monstrosities' for my 4 yo. Will be nice to not have to TF stuff for him. He can tf G1 figures, but nothing else.

Not when you don't get Generations in your country because Hasbro decides only to give us Beast Hunters.

They wouldn't be so bad if they just had Knees and elbows. But a Deluxe sized legion figure at that cost ($30NZ+)... it's pretty bad.

Aren't the glorious Cyberverse meant to fill the simpler and affordable quota?

I'm willing to deal with it (by not buying them). My concern lies solely with the notion that others have suggested - that this may carry over in future lines.

Yeah, aimed squarely at kids is just about the only logical reason for them existing. Luckily for my wallet I won't be buying any.

Honestly? They look kinda good, all things considered, and if it weren't for all the great Generations reveals, I probably would've bought Twinstrike or one of the others. The sculpts and designs look very crisp.

What blue version of predaking are you talking about? I didn't see anything about a blue version on him.

It's a target exclusive for the predacon rising line.
