But it would have been even cheaper to give us Stealth Smokescreen, or Prime with a faceplate.

Still thankful for the new voyagers, though

Hasbro can do whatever it likes and I will just vote with my wallet. NO Beasts.

I thought more about this last night...

I think its a solid move for hasbro.

1, they have NEVER done this before. Just as people say hasbro's "answer to 3rd parties" this could very well be "the answer to oversized KOs" now, before you start bitching about it..think of the possibilities...what if.hasbro upsized ROTF legends devestator? What about some of the cool legends from the past? Cosmos...war path...

2, this could very well be a "dollar general" exclusive, just like they did with the gijoes that all the Joe fans are going batshit crazy over.

They will never know unless they do it and give it a try...

Interesting... quite the theory there. I'd love for this to not take up shelf space at places like Walmart and TRU.

I'm not really angry at Hasbro for these guys, they're a toy company, after all. And I can say that kids probably WOULD find appeal in these upsized dudes.

It really comes down to "I don't want it so I won't buy it" for me. And really, if this fails for Hasbro, it just means that they'll probably never try anything like this again.

And really, the new Generations figures look awesome, so it's not like there's nothing in the future to get excited about.

The commander figures didn't look that bad. Not nearly as great as the Generations stuff but definitely better than the deluxe legions. Besides they prime line is really done. Did people really want another deluxe bumblebee? I'm content with this if only because there was nothing else really left. Though if they make a voyager hardshell from the cyberverse mold I'd be all over that.

As a collector, I know I won't be very interested in a lot of these upscaled figures. But with that being said, there are some pros and cons the more I look at things. The upscaled Terrorcons might not be a bad thing, it looks like they translated well to the larger size even though its been said they lose the ability to combine. As just a thought, they might look good with Classics at least as a stand in. The voyagers are what really impress me the more I look at them. Optimus and Predaking look somewhat better than what we got the first time around, my only MINOR gripe is still why no faceplate? :) p). One other thing that gives me a slight hope is maybe we can get an upsized Commander Hardshell.

From a realistic standpoint, it seems like this was inevitable since other lines were scaled down and losing articulation to cut costs and not to mention some of the movie toys were a pain to transform even for adults. So simplifying them does make sense to start appealing to kids again and Prime IS the kids focused line whether we want to admit it or not.

We as collectors at least still have Generations which for the foreseeable future will not be making this transistion. Personally, this move might not be a bad thing, because I know I wont be buying many of them and thus saving money for future Generations and Masterpieces.

^ But it does replace Deluxe figures.

"Deluxe" no longer means "knees and elbows."

Cyberverse designs can and have been upsides with care and quality. See Beast Hunters Dreadwing. The engineering is solid and simple, the articulation is standard, and the paint apps are beautiful. It's a quality children's toy.

The straight-up upsized Legions would actually be appealing if the had been modified with basic articulation and the detailing was there. But they are just ugly. They are a very clear message: "we bet kids are dumb enough to get their parents to pay more for less."

These toys don't hurt me in any way, but I think they damage the image of the brand and that they will not sell well due to character fatigue.

The legacy of the new Hasbro team: "kids don't deserve effort and quality."

they've already done it before, they called it fast action battler, except even the FAB had better articulation than these and it was under different 'line' so the bar for the deluxe wasn't lowered. answer to oversized ko is answer to problem that doesn't exist, 'oversized' and 'ko' are the symptoms not the problem, the problem has always been price. most people who pirate games will never buy it in the first place, most people who buy over sized $2 kos (think cheap parents that don't really care about what toy they buy as long as it's cheap and can shut the kid up for awhile) aren't going to buy the same toy for $13 just because it's official product, they were never hasbro's target demographic.

if hasbro wants to dilute their own brand and ip by flooding cheap, poorly designed products to dollars stores that's their business, only problem is they still can't compete with whatever crap toys they sell at the deep discount stores, again it all comes down to the price. similarly sized toys cost $5 (and sometimes come with a free t-shirt) at discount stores, the price point hasbro can never beat, heck even their discounted cyberverse commanders are at least $5.99 and they only use 1/3-1/2 of the materials as the deluxe.

This completely. And considering the quality of the upcoming Generations figures we're getting, cutting a few corners on some end-of-line figures is ok in my book.

I can't judge the line based on hypotheticals. Upsized Hardshell, ROTF Devastator, playsets, etc. do not exist. Or at least, we don't know if they do or not yet (I personally think the chances of any of those happening are pretty slim).

I can only only base my judgment on what we have seen. And what we have seen looks like complete and utter trash.

    Basically, this.

I´m quoting this. These toys are purely indefensible.

Gotta be honest, when official pictures were released on the TFW home page and I clicked the link, I thought it was a fuck up, because they were showing Legion figures, not deluxes. Then I went and read and was like, "You've gotta be fucking kidding me."

Look, TFs haven't really been selling super well all year. At least not in my area. The only figures flying off the pegs are the Generations Voyagers. Everything else is pegwarming. I fail to see how releasing these figures is a good thing, because if the good figures out now aren't selling, and these are being released at the same price, how hesitant will stores be to buy future product next year outside of TF4 movie shit when they have to clearance a shitload of these figures to make room? Everyone is saying this helps Generations with cost cutting, but if this shit don't sell, Generations is gonna feel some backlash too.

Indeed. I was willing to put up with the cost cutting that's been going on, but this? No. This is just too much.

Seems like these are just the equivalent of Fast Action Battlers and other simplified toys who didn't have much articulation either.
