Ah! I think this thread is a GREAT idea!

Also, I will state this now: THIS IS AN APPRECIATION THREAD. IF YOUR INTENTION IS TO TROLL AND/OR SHARE YOUR VIEWS ON WHY YOU HATE SEALED AND/OR AFA ITEMS, RETHINK BEFORE YOU POST AS YOU WILL BE VIOLATING RULES #1 AND #13 IF YOU DO:

    1. No Insults, Trolling, Flaming, Name Calling, Harassing, Etc.
We will not tolerate insults, excessive profanity or throwing a topic off course. Use of racial or bigoted terms is not accepted. Posts intended solely to antagonize others are not accepted. Keep topics/posts where they belong. Generally, “play nice”.

    13. No Disruptive Posting or Flamebaiting
Do not purposely post anything which will cause another member (or members) to react negatively. This is subjective. The TFW2005 staff will evaluate the trend of posts made by those consistently being reported or those that are repeatedly involved with arguments on the site. If their overall method or content of posting leads to staff attention repeatedly, we reserve the right to warn, infract and/or ban accordingly.

Hopefully, the precedent here is clear enough.

Now, I wanna see photos! :)

Agreed. h8rs gonna h8, but one thing that I've always enjoyed about AFA pieces is that they are SO nice to look at. Historical preservation of . . . nice art :)

You know, this is really it for me when it comes to why I appreciate sealed collecting. I mean, its great to have pics & whatnot on the internet, but many years down the road, having the actual thing preserved will mean so much more.

I was looking at th website for AFA but would like to get my son's Skylar seacon unpunched MOC graded and see this and turned me off....here it is.This was on their front page,i just edited it.

PLEASE NOTE: Please be assured that all orders are placed in the que in the order of receipt per membership level and chosen tier. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work hard to get back on schedule.

So,say i've been waiting a month and its cool cause they are behind.Doesn't this allow someone who is willing to pay more(for a membership)to jump ahead of me? If that is the case, nevermind,i'll just try my best to take care of it.

Stunning Bluestreak, stunning Brawn, stunning Kup, stunning Whirl, stunning Cyclonus.

I used to see many MISB Transformers in the stock of old-school toy show dealers who carted them around from show to show, from country to country and all that could happen with their prices at the time was that they would get more and more worn on shelves and in trucks or in storage without protection. Preservation of this standard of vintage Transformer is so essential, just look at the awe that's being expressed in the "old toy store pictures" thread.

I have never really owned a proper MISB G1 Transformer (itchy fingers!) and when I do finally snag one I'm going to submit it to the AFA, document the entire process and experience then produce an article. Maybe I could even compare with UKG, I think that would be an interesting subject.

Great pictures guys, and from those who have posted pictures I can say I have always experienced the most heartwarming kindness and generosity in sharing photographic and research material for articles.

    All the best
    Maz

Maz, that is a great idea! I think the process can be very confusing, especially if you've never submitted anything before. It would be a great resource for anyone just starting out. I may be sending some things off to UKG and see how they grade myself :)

Great to hear you think it would be valuable Eric, a couple of obvious obstacles for me (MISB Transformer x2 and costs haha), but I do have a factory case of Joustra Diaclone Turbo2000s with 48 specimens, two of which could be sent to either grading company as an experiment, and if I don't like the result I could just free them from the cases and replace them in their factory shipping box...the problem is they don't come taped, all 48 in the case are untaped.

    All the best

Ok, so apparently I wasn't clear enough in my initial post after this thread was started.

This thread is not for any kind of posting for anyone to share their negative opinions of AFA, their process, collecting, etc. IF YOU FIND YOURSELF UNABLE TO POST IN THIS THREAD WITHOUT POSITIVELY CONTRIBUTING, REFRAIN FROM POSTING. The board rules have been cited above. If you come into this thread and post anything negative about AFA stuff, you are subjecting yourself to formal moderation.

Also, if you find such a post, REPORT IT ONLY. Mouthing off to another member about the rules puts yiu under the same form of moderation. Review Rule #1.

If this post is unclear about how to post in this thread, please PM privately and do not post such questions in this thread. I will be glad to explain everything I've posted here to any member who for whatever reason can't comprehend the precedent set forth here.

If you don't want to "waste your money" on AFA stuff, then don't waste my time telling you not to post in this thread.

Really like this one! Whirl is one of several MISB G1 Transformers I own, although the box is slightly poor (I have no idea what grade it would get: probably a 75). I keep it as well as I can, wrapped in bubblewrap in a box, in storage: but I realise it's not the ideal place to show him off. Although I own a couple of sealed G1 TF's, the fact that I live in Europe makes sending them to the US to get graded a rather harrowing prospect. And let's be honest, UK Grader is not taken as seriously as AFA is.
