Deluxes have been $17.49 at my local Toys R Us's for the past year or more now. I don't mean to sound mean, but welcome to the club? :(

Well I guess that helps to explain why Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles seems to be a hotter item this Christmas than Transformers. Run down to Wal-Mart and get a Turtles figure for $8.88 or spend $15 on a deluxe sized Transformer that isn't the best figures Hasbro has ever made.

it is not Hasbro's fault, it is the greed of the retailer and corporate america. but it will go down by next year... it is now becoming cheaper to manufacture in the us... other places have cheaper labor yes, but the shipping it to the us has become horribly expensive. Apple is already starting to do manufacturing here again.

It makes no sense for them to do this, especially when you consider how poorly DOTM sold under the same marketing strategy. They need to do what they did with ROTF - keep the price down and the quality up - and see the money roll in.

I think the ROTF line was the first to see deluxe prices raised from $9.99 to $12.99. Even so I never hesitated to pick up new figures because even at that price, which still wasn't too much, the figure quality was the same or better as previous figures, and in some cases very much better. Now, with figures smaller, of simpler quality, and with less paint at prices ranging from $16-19 depending on the store, it is much harder to justify purchases on a regular basis.

I was already out of buying mainline releases, but the recent price hikes and reduction of overall size/quality has definitely reinforced my decision.

Boy do I feel silly that I was complaining that I had to spend $99 on my pre-order when people were able to find them in store and get them for $80 when that 20% coupon. Both of those prices seem like a tremendous bargain now.

We ought to start a pool on how long it takes one of these guys to come into a thread. Because, no matter how many times we state why their argument is wrong, they continue to make it.

Aside from the recent "buy 2 get 1 free" deal I hit, this is what I've been doing.

Yup. just ordered the FEW things that I am actually interested in.

I am actually GLAD that the Beast Hunters line looks like garbage- my money can actually go to something good. It's a nice feeling when you know that you don't have to hit a store on truck day.
    Done is done.

    Yup.
Just remember that in their eyes we just throw wads of hundred dollar bills on the fire to cook our nightly Prime Rib on.

This doesn't suprise me at all considering that they do that already with Star Wars figures and vehicles.

At this point, with the how, sexy Warbot Assaulter in my hands, I don't know if I still really want MP-10. Considering that I really don't want the trailer, I just want Optimus, 130 is way too much for what I'm willing to pay for the robot and the trailer which I will never display.

This seems to be a good time to stop buying mainline transformers at this point.

by next summer I'm betting the deluxes will be at $21.00 +Tax a pop especially since target and walmarts are starting to put theirs at about $19.99 a pop
