I'm trying to remove some old stickers from a G1 figure because they are worn out, but they are a bit harder to remove than I thought they would be. Is there a certain way to remove them?

 

I seem to recall goo-gone helping (but I'm not sure, wait for someone else to verify it wont damage the figure), maybe some rubbing alcohol? Water might be enough in some cases.

 

on hard stickers, i used some rubbing alcohol on bare plastic (no paint) paint, a fingernail.

 

I use "Sticker Shock" bumper sticker remover found at any autoparts store, works great, and doesn't harm plastic or paint. WD-40 also works well, but leaves a film that needs to be cleaned off afterwards.

 

what about Degreaser?

As a kid it took me warm water and rubbing  
Most of the toys look better without the stickers.

 

I just use water and scratch the stickers off.

 

Try it, works great especially on those stubborn ones. Let it soak for a couple minutes, and they peal right off. 

 

Any of the citrus based solvents have worked great for me. They are not greasy, will not destroy plastics or paint, and are easy to work with. Using a Q-Tip with it helps too.

I think Goo Gone and Goof Off are both products that fit this bill.

 

Are there any good ways to polish an old G1 figure because the one I just bought has some dirt on it.

 

Peel the Stickers off and then rub away the remaining Adhesive residue with an oil-soaked Paper towel.

 

Thanks for all this advice. I'll be sure to use them on the sticky residue on my Hegemon left by the awful tape toyworld used on his shoulder.

 

Yeah, I did this on a few of mine as well, but I was really skeptical about damaging the surfaces so I left my nails outa the equation  

 

Do NOT use Goof Off on your figures. Goo Gone is safe. Goof Off melts plastics.

 

Zippo fuel works too.

Hey the goo gone actually works and leaves a fruity smell to your figures!

 

I'll try to look for sticker shock in local shops, hope it's available. I need it for TF and other figures.

My method is rather crude and time consuming: I carefully peel off the edge of the stickers sometimes with a cutter then the rest with my finger tips, then use scotch tape to remove the residue, if they're stubborn, I use some baby oil on cotton balls or buds.
