I'm glad that I own the original.

 

While this is annoying, all I remember is people asking that Hasbro release the FEs. I can't remember a single person asking that the FEs be painted.

This fandom is too damn demanding.  

 

The original's Alt mode didn't look that good either. *shrugs*

that garish bronze/brown looking plastic is pretty bad all in itself.

It should have been more of a light gray to match the smokestacks

Are you sure this isn't just your copy? Because it may be a case of factory error.

 

I'll get mine on Monday, and see how it looks. Hopefully this is a rare mistake, since my Optimus Prime (from the Entertainment Pack) is missing a paint app on his hood air deflector, so instead of making a "C", it only makes an "L". -_-

I will also check over my Bulkhead and see if his arm drops off. I hope it doesn't.

 

Wow. That's a huge difference from the first run if it is indeed not a factory error.

 

...Kinda glad that the only First Edition figure I have interest in and don't already have is the Vehicon. Still, it seems rather odd that they'd skip the paint on the doors and nowhere else... Skipping the paint for the inside of the panels directly behind the doors wouldn't have affected either mode, and since it's a larger surface area than the doors, they probably would have saved themselves a touch more than leaving off the doors...

 

Is there any way you can see this error in the packaging? I'd like to be able to identify properly painted ones at TRU when they get them in.

Also, if you ordered from BBTS, please take pictures and let us know if your order has this defect. Hopefully this is a simple case error.

Huh, that's weird. I don't find it too much of a problem, and usually display my figures in robot mode anyway, so I can't see getting worked up about this.

It does not bother me in the least that mine is missing that paint app as well. Got it from BBTS yesterday. Honestly i had to look around hard just to notice it either way.

 

Huh. Interesting. It took a lot of staring for me to even figure out what the difference was between the two.

One, I think the red of the "new" First Edition on those parts looks better than the brown on the first one.

And second... this is worth complaining over? Wow.

Either way, I think this is a rather minor thing.

 

I now have no regrets paying what I did for my original First Edition Optimus Prime.

 

I'm afraid not. The step panels fold up, completely covering the doors and side windows. This is then further covered by the wheel and grille assemblies folding back over this, and the chest panels completely cover the front to seal the deal. On the positive side, just as what has been mentioned already, this also means that you'd never notice it in robot mode. And if it really bugs enough people, maybe Reprolabels will make stickers to fill that in along with the rest of a First Edition Optimus Prime set.

 

I don't care either way cuz I'm displaying mine in robot mode. And it's still a great mold to have regardless of 1 bad paint app.

 

Ah Hasbro, anything to cut corners. 

 

You people should complain properly like last time...
