Ok I did it. Ordered Smokescreen from Nippon Yasan. Paid for the cheapest tracked shipping option to make me feel better about how much his price has come up. 56 euros + 10 euros shipping. Damn, back when I ordered G2 Sideswipe from Nippon Yasan both of them were around 33 euros each. And I didn't even keep G2 Sideswipe. Ah well, the things we learn about the direction we want our collection to take!

I'm blaming this on Smokescreen's inclusion on the back of Ultra Magnus's instructions!

Now to see if I get Red Alert next month or not... decisions decisions!

High five! Man, I hope your Smokescreen is as good as my example. The paint's flawless on mine. The gun's a little loose in his hands but he can still hold it well enough for posing and display without any trouble. If you dug Bumblebee and Ultra Magnus' face sculpts, I think you'll really appreciate Smokescreen's cartoon accurate head.

Skywarp and Ultra Magnus are fitting in just fine. Need to take a dusting brush to a few of their comrades ;)

Yeah I think I'll like his head sculpt a lot. I'm gonna find a fix for that loose gun because my Streak has the same problem (he has Silverstreak's hands and I guess post MP-18 the mould degraded a little).

The way I figure if we get Tracks soon he needs a S2 buddy (definitely getting Tracks because I had him as a kid). If it's Jazz then Wheeljack and Smokescreen can join him and form the racing car team (versus Exhaust!). Ultimately though I was just looking at photos of him online and they swayed me - with the shoulder launchers, bigger bumper, different tyre placement, the head sculpt and the colours he looks different enough from Prowl and Bluestreak to warrant the purchase.

The problem is having 3 of the Datsun mould only encourages me to get 3 of the Lambor mould... I just need a little more time and persuasion to warm to the idea of Red Alert.

Hahaha multi-mold owning is so necessary

Im fence with Red alert too i have Sideswipe + G2 sideswipeband Tigertracks and love them, the withe lambo doesn't appel me much but... Robot mode is just so sweet to say no.

Still im not going to spend +80€ on a character i don't like i really hope someday a reissue will show and then that will be the moment.

    Patience help me!

What an epic post! Love every single one of these shots! What's great about this appreciation thread is how other guys' pics of their collections get you fired up about figures you already have! Weird how that works. :)

Btw, do you find those metal shelves are scratching up Soundwave's feet?

You want me to try to sell you on Red Alert? :)

Patience be damned - pull the trigger already! :)

Thanks!! Agreed not the best articulation but still great to pose and looks fantastic on the shelf. I think Takara nailed this one! So happy with it!

    Thanks so much!

Love the comparisons of Skywarp and Starscream's heads - it's funny how a little different paint can change everything. I was always critical of the MP-11 mold and in particular I couldn't stand Starscream's head. Everyone seemed to rave about how much better it was than the MP-3 mold, but I hated it - the face looked gaunt and skeletal, the head was the wrong shape, just...ugh. I really couldn't understand how people could hate the MP-3 head so much and then say that MP-11's was sooo much better when it wasn't any more or less accurate.

I skipped Starscream, and after getting all of the subsequent repaints, Skywarp is the first time where I've actually liked the head. It's still not perfect (I think Dawgstar nailed it with his custom heads), but if all the seekers had Skywarp's head I wouldn't complain. Maybe it's just part and parcel of Skywarp's deco and finish winning me over to the MP-11 mold, but either way, I'm not hating on the mold or the head any longer.

Just to play devil's advocate here in regards to mixing seasons, tonight I'll try to post a picture of my display with all the non-Ark/Nemesis bots removed. I can't tell you how clean and consistent it looks, and how happy it makes me to see them this way.

I agree that in the fiction, behind the scenes, the bots from different era's would have been together. But at the same time I can't but help feel that displays look a bit more chaotic and haphazard when they are mixed like that.

Maybe it's OCD. MP-22 is growing on me as a figure until I try to put him with the others, which are mostly S1. At that point I just feel he doesn't fit or belong. His colors and aesthetic feel wrong, not to mention size. Why didn't the little birds let the giant emu play in their games? Because he was ostrich-sized.

I watched it a few days ago, it's always worth revisiting even though Magnus is only in it for about a minute. It's also fun if you're following Badcube's Warpath, watch carefully and you'll see him in the same vehicle scale they're using :D

I haven't really had much of an issue myself with mixing seasons' characters, I guess I just don't think of them that way. It's probably because I've watched SC and Headmasters (and the rest of the late-G1 Japanese series) a few times over the last few years, and haven't actually watched the original 3 seasons in a very long time. The Japanese series seem to do a good job of suggesting that it's a big universe where the Autobots and Decepticons are all over the place, and if you don't see a character it's probably because they're assigned to some other planet or something. Like the comics, it makes it seem like any character you know of has always been around somewhere.

Like I said, man, I really think you'd love how a bookshelf lets you divide up your collection.

There's a thread somewhere here, I think in this Toy forum about Ikea Detolf displays - check out the later pages, there's some really cool non-Detolf displays that are more like bookshelves - which is pretty much what they are, various bookshelf models with glass doors. I'm not a fan of Detolf, but some of the other models are really attractive.

Got a link? I think I know what you're talking about. My mother-in-law has a a giant display case like the one you're describing for her figurines. It's so big and wide it kinda looks like a paint to set up figures in it and keep clean. I like messing with a figure or two a day so I like the easy access of a bookshelf. I just need a better, nicer looking bookshelf and better lighting.
