I still need to pick up a KO Soundwave. I got one for a great price, but the seller turned out to be a flake, and got banned from Ebay.

Got the KO oversized Ironhide from Sirtoys. A bit on his left arm was bent out of the box, and his big fake gun had the handle snapped off (I wasn't going to use it anyway), but otherwise the figure is fine. Sadly, unlike the real deal, the faceplate comes off leaving a grotesque hole in the dead center of his face.

I've picked up a few of the A/E/C repaints from the first movie line (Hardtop, Storm Surge, and Crankcase) for pretty cheap and am enjoying them. Back in 07/08 I passed on them because I felt they didn't fit the aesthetic, but I feel the aesthetic is so diverse now they do fit (I recently moved my RotF Bruticus Maximus to my movie shelf as well).

Are there any other standouts you all recommend?

If you're looking for cheaper, non-screen characters, I picked up Dropkick and Longarm a few months back and they are awesome. Dropkick has a Mech vibe with the way his arms and cannons work.

Yeah, those guys are both really good toys! Just to clarify though, I'm asking about the non-screen guys who were repaints of older molds from Armada, Energon, and Cybertron. I'm very unfamiliar with molds from that era, but some of the Target Sector 7 and Walmart and TRU Allspark Power repaints of them look cool.

I've always loved Allspark Power Jolt, who is a purple/grey repaint of Cybertron (I think) Crosswise - lovely Bugatti Veyron alt mode too. I'd love him for my CHUG display. Amazon.com: Transformers Movie Hasbro Exclusive Deluxe Action Figure Allspark Power Jolt: Toys & Games

He's also way cheaper for you Americans than us Brits - the listing on the UK Amazon site is over £100...

My latest acquisition! It's an over-sized KO HFTD Leader Starscream (closer to Supreme class now) with his movie 1 paint deco (customized by xaviercal; more photos of this amazing figure here: Supreme Class Movie Starscream):

Includes a real metal buzzsaw (with really sharp edges!), ball jointed wrists (no gorilla arms here), and articulated fingers.

I didn't particularly care for the fins on the missile cluster hand attachment that came with Hugescream so I removed them and kitbashed my own. I think they look a bit more streamlined. I also added some metallic blue to the cheeks to give him a bit of color to his face, as well as some booster jet rocket pods on his back (can't be seen in the photos).

To get a better sense of his ginormous size, here he is next Human Alliance Barricade (also customized by xaverical) and Robot Replicas Frenzy (another custom job but by an unknown). Love how Starscream and Barricade scale next to each other!

I can never get enough of that mold. Such a fantastic F-22 mode w/ an even better robot mode. I'd love for TT to reissue it under the APS and perhaps include ball-jointed hands, but I doubt it.

Yet to this day, I still don't understand why the KO folks don't make the '07 voyager Blackout in that size. It's the most logical choice

Voyager Blackout is sorta dated. They'd have to change a few things, like they did with OS Starscream.

Which by the way looks great. I need to get mine painted too.

Nothing major, just transformation of the legs and they added a locking mechanism to the crotch area behind the cockpit. It's somewhat annoying, but the purpose is to lock the huge sucker down and it does it's job well.

The leg transformation has the legs just folding down now, instead of rotating the hips around. Unfortunately, this does affect the back wheels in that they don't fold up on the outside of the leg anymore, but instead on the inside, so they press against the underbelly. However, the wheels themselves still do their jobs.

He's a beast of a figure, highly recommended.

As much as I like the Voyager Blackout mold, upsizing it to Supreme class or even Leader class would make the engineering limitations of the mold more inherent, I think (since it was released all the way back in the first movie when the toy designers didn't quite nail the likenesses of the CGI just yet -- that only really started to happen around ROTF/HFTD, IMHO).

Still, that doesn't mean I don't want to see it happen (it'd beat trying to upsize the Commander figure of Blackout though I like that mold too).

I kinda agree. If they did take the Voyager Blackout mold and upsized it, I hope they redesign some of the engineering similar to what's (theoretically) being done to the Evasion Optimus mold. But I doubt Blackout is that popular a character to warrant all the effort.

Thanks, glad you like. Even upsized to Supreme class, I think the HFTD Leader Starscream mold is pretty good engineering-wise (a lot of figures look too simplistic when their size is blown up bigger, which I think Voyager Blackout would suffer from if he were OS'd).

There are some stability issues though, particularly with the shoulder joints being a bit loose (might have to take it apart and apply some Future) and the leg joints being a tad dicey simply due to all the added weight (because of being oversized) that they're supporting in the torso and arms (OS Starscream is one top-heavy bastard!).

Also, Ben's Collectibles has a pretty thorough review of Sirtoys Transformers ROTF HFTD Oversized Leader Starscream Taikongzhans that's helpful.

as a huge transformers fan, I never liked any of the movie stuff. although at some point I'll probably get Bludgeon. I was toying with the idea of getting the leader Sentinel Prime and 3 Crankcases (the dreadlock SUVs from DOTM, I may have the name wrong)

Agreed. I picked up Shockwave super cheap at retail, and the Battle Blades Optimus was found in a poorly-titled Ebay auction - seller fail, my win :)

As much as I don't love the movies, there are some wonderful toys
