Is it just me, or does look to be one of the baddest most awesome TF toys ever made??

My question to the community is, where is THE BEST PLACE to get ahold of one of these things, what is a FAIR PRICE for me to pay? Do we have any sponsors or connections with TFW to get ahold of one?

I am new to collecting, but wanna dive in here. It seems this is going to be one to have for sure, and I want to make sure I take the steps to get ahold of one at the best price before they are all gone and triple in value.

Your tips and suggestions are really appreciated!!!

Sponsors are all in the flashing image just above your post.

This won't triple in value any time soon, and pretty much eveywhere will work out about the same price.

Robotkingdom has the cheapest price, I believe, but BBTS [due to an error of theirs] still have a competitive prices for buyers in the US.

Soundwave does look awesome, but I dislike the Jetfire\Astrotrain upper legs he appears to have...

His secondary value depends largely on the Takara version's availability, a US/European Hasbro release and the availability of that toy. Also factor in the promised release of cassette sets for minor price hikes.

In the short-term at least i'd hazard a guess that there will be plenty to go round, since he's such a massively popular character. Were i a gambling man, i'd put money on MP 13 outselling the new MP prime.

edit. in the UK, RK are (roughly) £23 cheaper than Kapow if you choose the insured non-EMS option from RK and factor in free domestic postage from the UK retailer, but that saving quickly gets eaten up if you're hit for customs which would likely come to just shy of £40 after 'admin fees' and whatnot.

I'm sure they will pimp out this mold as much as they did with the original MP Prime.

You should have no problem finding this anywhere, whenever you want one.

I go with BBTS - if something is wrong with it, they take care of you in a jiff.

No one has yet mentioned a USD amount of what is the fair, expected price to pay for one.

The "expected price" is in or around what retailers are charging, and most are going to charge pretty much the same price.

You buy in the US, you pay more for the toy and less for shipping.
You buy in Asia, it's the other way round. Either way, the difference in costs is fairly narrow.

So $169 is what is what I am expected to pay then.

Seems fair enough. If I were to wait until 2014 to pull the trigger, it might be $250+...

I wonder how likely a Hasbro/US release of the same thing for $69.99-$99.99 at TRU would be?

About as sure as any Hasbro release of a Masterpiece has ever been.

Issue is what tapes they'd ship, how/at what price they'd ship them.

And how likely is that? With JP having 26 and the US having 9, I guess that would be "not likely?"

Why is the issue the tapes? Thats like... a small accessory. Elaborate please.

People are split on that. Every MP Mold so far but Megatron's been available stateside a couple years after Japan... however, Hasbro has been really trying to avoid non-ambulatory alt-modes for a while.

Given that it's going to be a collector's item, it's possible that they won't care (they did just reissue Perceptor a couple years back). That said, they may not want to take the double risk of such a big-ticket item that has zero appeal to anyone but fans of the old show. Prime and Thundercracker, at least, could appeal to most anyone (jets are always cool and Prime is... Prime), and there's no one on this planet who doesn't think giant robotic dinosaurs with swords are awesome.

Comparatively, a cassette deck just isn't that exciting to most people.

Either way, I am getting the MP-13, so I am set.

What about Japan makes them so much more likely to buy a Soundwave than us? Fascination with robots I guess? Origin of the show?

When it comes out at TRU it will be $70, unless they jack the prices up for some reason

    The $100 question, lol.

You ain't the only one wondering this - waiting paid off for MP Prime but people are wondering if the deco is going to be as good.

The one that is coming out at TRU sometime soon?

I wonder if the prime will be as big as my 20th Edition?
