I believe Cobra Zartan (?) in particular expressed frustation WRT to their apparent failure to resolve an issue involving an exclusive item of some sort.

"Red Leader" I believe also recanted an incident where he paid for items that were not received. At all.

i can't remember any other specific examples WRT to other parties.

Over the course of 10 orders or so...... they once, frankly, did a piss-poor job of packaging an order with several items in it to the point of the packaging for one item getting damaged.

I did mail them about it, attached photos, and did not get an acknowledgement from them of any error on their part.

And they *did* do a poor packaging job in that case.

I don't wish to show any paricular bias for, or against, any retailer. I woudln't pay anybody more than about two weeks before the release date of merch, or from anything other than credit card backed funds, just seems like asking for trouble imo.

Ask and you shall receive. Thanks for the info. :)

Between the reply I quoted and the one before it, sounds like I got lucky.

Truth is, sounds like those others guys were unlucky. When hearing people's stories one must consider what the tone of the emails were like. What was the true nature of the issues and just how long "long" really is.

IF TF fans are known for one thing it is our impatience. I give everyone 24 hours to reply and RK did it. Breakdown is not a cheap figure so they corrected an issue on a premium figure. With all my emails I minded my P's and Q's and so did they. When the issue was resolved I emailed them a thank you and they even replied to that thanking me back.

I am pretty sure if you ask enough people you can gather horror stories from every single last store online and offline.

    Long Story Short.

RK,CP,TFS and BBTS. ALL SAFE TO SHOP AT.

OH does he feel the same way about RK that I do about BBTS? lol

As I said before ask around enough and you will swear that there isn't a good retailer out there in the world.

Yup. The scope for error can be reduced, but never completely and utterly removed, hence what i said in my last post.

I thought they wouldn't want to do Soundwave because of the cassette form not being familiar/popular with kids.

Ok so i want this one but having a hard time justifying the price. This would be the most i have ever spent on a single "toy." Lol - is this one a stretch for everyone?

I've ordered the majority of my expensive items from robotkingdom, and never had an issue with them. Always packaged well, always good communication if I'm wondering about something. Price has always been the best, including shipping. They always offer tracking, always mark the package properly etc.
I don't care that I have to pay for the item when I put in the order, since I never try to buy anything I can't pay for anyway.
They MAY take longer to reply, but that's because they're in a different time zone. Expecting them to reply right away at any time is like expecting BBTS to reply in the middle of the night.

The only time I haven't had an email answered was when I asked why they're not stocking new FP items, and only KOs of old ones. :lol

Also, one of the people mentioned as having problems with RK does himself work at (or own?) a rival online TF store.
not saying that has anything to do with it, but it's worth noting.

    In before "but POL".

The hasbro version would probably have all the tapes included. (Hopefully)

I mean, if MP-10 can include all accessories and the trailer, why wouldn't hasbro soundwave include the tapes?

As someone who grew up with cassettes, when I read this, at first I was indignant. Then I realized it's true. Man I feel old.

For me, yes and no. Most expensive on a single toy? Yes. Before this the most I spent was $170 to assemble my Fansproject's Bruticus. Although that is 5 figures, the end goal as for the combined mode which is how I display him, so technically it was $170 for a "single toy" in a way. It was by far the most I'd spent on anything before, and is still the most I've spent on anything since. However, it was probably the best $170 I've spent on my collection. It really is one of my absolute favorites. Nevermind that it's worth more now; that only matters if I plan to sell it, which I don't. The value is in what I see in it now, the simple joy it brings in sitting on my display shelf, or doing bad-ass poses with when I have a few minutes to play.

So the real question is, if you spend that $ do you really think it will be worth it to you? If so then it's a no brainer. :)

On topic: I preordered from BBTS, still unsure I will keep it only because if a Hasbro release is coming I'd prefer that. Even with minor deco/color changes or whatever, it wouldn't justify (to me) the extra $100 difference between the Takara and Hasbro versions.

While I share some skepticism that a Hasbro release will be forthcoming, a couple of things come to mind:

    1. We did get a Hasbro G1 reissue Soundwave a few years ago, cassette player mold and all. So it's not unheard of for Hasbro to cater to G1 collectors/fandom, even if the alt mold is outdated for modern times.

    2. The past few years we've seen Hasbro follow Takara's lead with Masterpiece - see, e.g., Grimlock, Rodimus, Optimus Prime.

And yes, even Thundercracker, if you think about it, is in a way Hasbro releasing Takara's new Seeker mold - they probably just figured that the US market probably wouldn't absorb Starscream or Skywarp AGAIN (since we had both already), so Thundercracker was the last logical candidate to receive the new mold treatment.

Even so, Thundercracker is using the new Starscream mold, which Takara released first. I think that is the point miscreant was making, i.e. when has Hasbro ever announced a new mold/version before the Takara one is released? That would be like Hasbro announcing Thundercracker BEFORE Takara's Starscream was even released. It didn't happen that way, we only found out about Thundercracker well after new Takara mold had hit the market. The point is this: Hasbro's Masterpiece announcements have, without fail*, followed AFTER Takara's were already on the market.

    * Please someone correct me if I am wrong, I'm pretty sure that this is correct.

I'm picking him up hopefully. BBTS is looking kind of expensive, but that's probably the best price I'll see as he comes out.

When have Hasbro ever announced their version of a new Masterpiece mold before the Takara one is released?

Hasbro's version of a new masterpiece mold before a takara one of that mold comes out....ie. Thundercracker fits that bill.

He didn't ask "When has Hasbro ever came out with a mold before takara?"...He asked about a 'version' of a mold before takara.

Anywho....I'm hoping that MP Soundwave comes with his computer port on his left leg!! If prime can have flip out communicators Soundwave can have his connection!

$170 is a lot of money. Soundwave is, however, easily my favorite G1 Character and this figure is kind of everything I've wanted in a TF... ever. If I miss out on him, I wouldn't be very happy about it.

Yes, Toys R Us had a SW reissue in 07. And even more recently had a Perceptor reissue. But compared to this, they were small-ticket items. MP Soundwave will be at least twice the cost. Retailers are wary of big-ticket items in general, and Hasbro is wary of mundane alt-modes. I don't really blame them, I suppose. It's a tough sell to convince a kid that an obsolete appliance they probably have never even heard of is as cool as a fighter jet, futuristic sports car with flames, or robotic dinosaur.

Helps that it's clearly a collector-oriented figure, but combination of the high price tag and the collector-focused alt-mode could easily drive off retailers. I'm not going to risk it, personally. Going to import the Takara version.

If ever there was a tf worth importing, it is this one.

Takara MP soundwave, unless his cassette eject mechanism is made of cheese or his legs fall off, is going to be a classic.

Hope he gets a hasbro release though, would like a $70 soundblaster to keep him company!

The Hasbro versions have always been cheaper by a wide margin. Look at MP-10, $250 for takaras version and $99 for Hasbros. I think after the success of MP Thundercracker and MP Prime they will grab up MP Soundwave. Now will the Hasbro MP Soundwave come with all the cool accessories? I doubt it but I can hope!

Right-o, I wasn't disagreeing with you per-se, I was rephrasing miscreant's question in the way I think he meant it. :)  And I think the point I was making (i.e. about the mold itself, not variations thereof) still stands.
