Yeah, that Prime and no, he's nowhere near as big. Check out the feedback section. Couple threads dedicated to the new Prime mold over there.

Stronger collectors market. TakaraTomy is more prone to releasing smaller runs of more expensive figures.

Oh, then I guess his first alt mode in the G1 cartoon wasn't a lamppost... it was a crucifix.

Didn't Hot Rod end up about $80? Given Soundwave is about the same size, and also has a little robot I'd say that's a better gauge.

Only after the obligatory TRU price hike. Release price was $60 or $70. (and I want to say $60)

This will be the best Masterpiece when it comes out. They will make a Soundblaster, you can bet on it.

Hasbro would be stupid to not sell soundwave in the US, but no announcement has been made so far. Maybe something will be announced at the nycc, but they could wait till sdcc to make it official.

I wonder what - if any - differences there will be between the jp and us releases.

If they are identical there will be some TF collector tears.

RobotKingdom is the way to go.

Since you are in the states you can also try TFSource because of their free shipping for orders over $150.

I really hope note. Cartoon "white" is supposed to be silver, just like on OP's legs. The all-over silver paint job on this MP really makes this toy stunning.

Still, white or off-white would be better than that craptastic swirly gray translucent plastic hasbro has been putting on everything.

MP-13 Soundwave is very highly anticipated. That said, I wouldn't hold out hope that he'll see a price drop anywhere any time soon. If anything, his price might shoot up. And don't wait too long to snap him up either. Just look at MP-11 Starscream. He was sold out pretty fast at the major e-tailers (before his price jumped a good $20 or so on top of that), and you can only find him on eBay or the second-hand/aftermarket nowadays.

I would recommend a Stateside e-tailer like BBTS or TFSource. RK is decent but be aware that they are based in Hong Kong, and the longer times for communication and/or shipping (for the actual product or replacement parts in case of a QC problem) reflect their overseas location. There have also been some reports of RK not honoring or even ignoring e-mail requests to replace defective parts (due to bad product quality control) too, so be warned. BBTS, on the other hand, has a stellar reputation for customer service (even if their prices tend to be a bit higher than most; you get what you pay for, as they say).

Over in the speculation thread, didn't someone suggest a non-Japanese release might be a gift set with the various MP tapes included? Which, for those who aren't getting the TT one & are wondering about price, might drive it up rather than down

Dunno if that's just speculation or if there was any logic to it... just remember reading it..

When have Hasbro ever announced their version of a new Masterpiece mold before the Takara one is released?

Where do you get that from?

I ordered from RK, had an issue and this is how it went down.

I email them about the issue.
In less than 24 hours I get a reply that the issue has been brought up with their manufaturer (It was from a AM Breakdown)
I get anal and email them again stating that their reply did not resolve my issue.
That same day I get a reply and a tracking number that the piece is sent out free of charge.

Keep in mind the piece was his right chest so the thing they sent me came from another full Breakdown that they had to take apart to make me a satisfied customer. They also did all this with a smile and free of charge.
All their emails were friendly and replies were quick.

I am in Canada and for some reason I get stuff faster from RK than I do any US site.

If you can please tell me where you heard about RK's long delay times or ignoring customers please share because all your post is doing so far is slamming RK and raising BBTS to a place that is higher than their prices.

Can we all just agree that RK, TFS, BBTS and CP all have the same upstanding customer service? Some people carry on like only one site has stellar CS and the rest suck. Not true, of these 4 places ALL of them have great CS.

I can't recall a Masterpiece figure to dip in price other than the Wal-Mart Exclusive Skywarp a few years back. I think a good rule of thumb is the prices will only go up, not sky rocket, but go up after they are sold out.

MP Soundwave is going to be a candidate for figure of the year - no doubt about it! I preordered with BBTS wayyy back so I'm sticking with them.

CapturedPrey, RobotKingdom, TFsource are all other reliable sellers I buy from.

I was referring to blueben (fellow TFWer) and his case of a bad QC Rage of the Hercules set (one part had a switched out left/right elbow connector joint). According to him, he contacted RK continuously for 2 months (so he was out of the time frame for PayPal refund protection) and was told by RK that there was nothing they could do since all the sets were sold out, and then they started ignoring his e-mails altogether. Sounds like he's pretty much SoL.

Now I've done business with RK once (and only one time) and they shipped my stuff in a fairly timely manner, and everything arrived just fine with no QC issues I could find. Good first impression but I'm hesitant to do business again with them after blueben's situation caught my attention.

There have also been reports of RK taking more time to reply back to e-mails and sending replacement parts (whether that's due to the different time zones, overseas location, or language barrier--in which case, it may be easier for some to just stick with a Stateside e-tailer, was all I was getting at). Buy whatever and from whomever you'd like, but there's always options (the least expensive one may not always be the best, keeping in mind; see iGear also).
