I totally agree. Classics Ratchet and IH are the worst, the others are IMHO really good.

And honestly I'm not a fan of the mystery machines bots. Way too Hannah-barberra.

Edit: yup, keep the pics coming.

Cool to see this gets its own thread.

I have a few classics (mostly henkei/united) and even though people are gushing over them, I also feel those are the least attractive version of the characters. The G1 diaclone cars have something that makes them special. I've sold quite a lot of my G1 collection without any regret, but those G1 diaclone cars...they will stay (and be expanded upon).

I still love my alt/BT collection so much. Really have to start pimping them out more with stickers and making that Prowl myself -- I actually have two Prowls planned: from Alert and from Autorooper.

Transformers toys has definitely evolve from being squarish G1 look to more fully articulated G1 style.

It was making these kind of comparison's that made me ditch whatever classics I had left bar Cyclonus (I really like him) and Bumblebee (as, accuracy be damned, I really like him with my Alts).

don't be crazy. G1 Hot Rod is a stupidly fun toy. The classics version manages to remove almost everything that was chracterful of the original and replace it with ass.

Awesome photos and great idea man!

TBF to classics tho if they were also pimped out with reprolabels they wouldn't come out of this so bad. Now I don't have G1 Hound but case in point:

Obviously looking past the shitty pic Classics Hound comes into his own when stickered up....IMHO at least and I'd say the darker Henkei one would look even better.

    Bit pointless really. ;)
Till we get MP Soundwave, G1 Soundwave is easily going to wipe the floor with any rivals, including ML Soundwave!

Great thread, sir. Can't wait to see more updates. I started collecting classics last summer. Generations Thundercracker and Wheeljack first. Then I started getting the older ones through trades and sales and whatnot. I think from here on out, I will be getting MPs. 2-3 a year sounds like it will be pretty fun.

As some others have said, it's a bit unfair when you're pitting stock Classics against Reproed and modified Alternators. That said, the vehicle modes have always been the weakest feature of the Classics, whereas the robot modes of the alts are THEIR weak point. I'd love to see a Tracks comparison, because I think that's one case where the Classics beats out the Alt AND the G1.

Also also, the CLassics Hot Rod shown is the worst version of that mold. The standard, original Classics Hot Rod looks MUCH better next to G1 Hot Rod. and that Binaltech Prowl is actually an Asterix Red Alert with a headswap and a Repro sticker set. The "real" Alt Prowl wouldn't look quite so good up against them.

I think it is very interesting to see the comparison images. It's not like we need to choose which one is the best :)

What I'd like to know is, will there be Optimus Prime comparison shot? I'm already cheering for Alt/BT Prime, because no one else will....

This is exactly right. I didn't do this for people to say, this is better then that, this sucks, etc. I did it so people who have no been exposed to G1, MP/Alt/3rd Party or Classics can get an exposure to them and see what all the hupla is about. Just sharing some stuff that I love. While I do have my favorite children, they are all my children so bad mouthing my kids is a no no. LOL.

In either case, since everyone was saying Classics were getting the short end of the stick. I decided to do a pic on the completely other end of the spectrum here. This is my worst condition G1 figure. Funny enough, the it is also one of the few Henkei's I also have. Plus the Alt, has no stickers, just the shoulder missle. So this should make the Henkei (Classic) pop the most.

    I give you Bluestreak:

A couple of notes on these:
    - The Henkei transforms smoother then the Classics, if that makes any sense. It just feels like the parts work better together.
    - I really am starting to hate the Transformation on the wings / doors on the classics Bluestreak mold. I don't know what's worse, the fact that it pops off the ball joint all the time or the fact that it's made of clear plastic and will break one day.
    - The Alt Bluestreak has issues of his own. The Shoulders to go into car mode is a bit of a pain in the butt. They have to rotate and the magnet are sometimes gets stuck. Also the legs are not to fun to push in.
    - The G1 is great though. I love the fact that they tabbed the roof. That is something G1 Jazz needed in the worst way.

Overall, I like this set. Even with it's short comings in the Transformations.

If anything this thread reminds me why I never really got into Classics. After the Binal-Tech line they felt like such a step backwards and so... erm... "kids toy" like.

The problem with the Subaru mould is the shoulders get so weak with age and you can't hold a decent pose. I know your bigging up the classics fig here Al but man it looks like shit in comparison to the other two :lol

Stuff like this is fun. It's really cool to see the evolution from G1 to the current stuff. This evolution is a large focus of my blog. Good stuff man.
