Ha, would have liked to have known that sooner as well. My thinking is that because Sideswipe, much like the initial release FOC Jazz head, had some glue holding him together that later releases of Sideswipe shouldn't either.

Sideswipe took more work than the 2nd Jazz head, needed to be heated and I definitely cut thru some glue on his, but when it came apart it did so without a problem, just had to get thru that damn glue.

Btw, Jazz's head looks so much better black.

Okay, I got my wave 3 today. I'm to tired to take any pics right now but I will share my thoughts on the figures.

Fireflight: Meh, completely underwhelming. It's Shockwave, but not as good. The colors look cool but the gun just doesn't work with my preferences. The big blade looks upside down when deployed. You can separate the gun into 2 pieces. One piece is a golden almost pistol like, but rather bigger. The other piece is almost exactly Shockwave's gun minus the front bit; ie the tripple barreled gun. But this piece on Fireflight is only two barrels. In vehicle mode, his big gun doesn't secure anything like Shockwave's does so his legs can kind of swing around a bit. His handheld sword is the best part of the figure honestly.

Kickback: Man, I do not care for this figure really. His robot mode looks okay and is pretty poseable but his insect mode is, pardon my french, complete fucking bullshit. His tiny useless insect front legs are on tiny ball joints that may as well not even exist because they pop off with even the briefest hint of contact. His waist section splits in half for transformation but then does jack shit. There's groves for the aforementioned useless legs to supposedly lock them into place, but does jack. His hind insect legs are just awful. They never look like insect legs. They just like like... things.... The only part I like is that his arms do a very cool thing to combine and form the body of the insect very similar to Fans Project Backfirey(?). And that's is really cool. Also his weapon is super stupid.

Starscream: Now this is a good figure. He's very poseable and has great bot and vehicle modes. Yeah his head is visible as are his arms and legs but they don't seem all that blatant. Rotating the first so you don't see the handholds and keeping the face hidden; those parts just sort of blend in. His weapon is a bit big but eh, it's fine.

Ultra Magnus: Proving again what customizers have shown for months. This mold works fantastically as anyone BUT Optimus. The face is a bit thinner or leaner than I would have liked but I dig this figure. I'm rather indifferent to the combining weapon thing. The sword is cool, though I would rather Magnus have a hammer. Tangent, writing that reminded me that I have a Shapeways hammer I wanted to give him. Yup, he looks good with a hammer, though I have to repaint bits of this hammer for him. This figure gets my thumbs up.

Sideswipe: I like this mold. I won't pretend it's the best mold ever though so if you have issues with Jazz, you will have issues with Sideswipe. My biggest beef with him is his OMG HUGE FREAKIN GUN!!!!!!ZOMG!!!! The gun is 2/3 his height and feels like it has about as much mass. It is so huge that I cannot even entertain the idea of using it for him. Maybe I'll give it to Bruticus. Sideswipes alt mode is sleek and sexy. One thing that irks me though is his back doesn't tab in. On Jazz, you tab the back into his crotch. Sideswipes backpack is shorter so it doesn't tab in. Instead there are a pair of seemingly ports on the inside. The instructions show a picture of these ports interacting with the innards of his body, seemingly clipping in. But I have not been able to secure the back in any way shape or form. The only thing holding it in place is the chest piece via those same groves Jazz uses on his chest.

On a side note, I think I have an idea about why some people like Sideswipe more than Jazz. On Sideswipe, there is a bit of plastic flanking the "plate" that his head is on. On Sideswipe, those bits are painted a dark color while on Jazz they are white. I suspect if they were dark on Jazz, it would help optically blend in that area.

Now, for Neek, I've already busted open both Sideswipe heads I have. One of them had a bit of glue but I only really discovered it after my screwdriver broke through it. The other one wasn't even glued at all and was a cakewalk to open. So my Sideswipe now has blue eyes. Thanks for the tip. I did consider trying to paint them still in the head but man that was just too small even for me. And YAY, my FoC Burnout now has his body! Now to just find time to paint him. But first I have to finish Daxion and I can already hear Roadburn siren calling me to mod the Sideswipe head he's going to use... Gah, to many customs too little time.

Wow. I know this is a 3 month old post, but this is great. That could really work. Who else works as limb?

Congrats on getting them, kind of annoyed they still have yet to move or charge my card for them.

Glad that worked so smoothly for you! I'm planning a custom of my scout from foc using Jazz's body and Swipe's head with a blue and green paint job. Oddly enough, my third Jazz's head is also glued, so I tried to get that one apart but it's giving me some trouble, but really don't need it at this point either since I got the one I needed apart.

So many customs and such good times! :D

Ryoku, Looking at more pictures of Starscream, obviously repaints are Skywarp and Thundercracker, but what if they give us Autobot retools with wings that point backwards, would that be possible?

I want to put a word of warning out as well. One of my Starscreams has a minor paint scratch on the chest section. But the big thing is the stress marks all over the back near the tail fin. There is a horizontal stress mark on both sides of back plate. It's very visible and obvious. I'm not too worried about anything breaking since that isn't a stress filled area, but it is something people might want to keep an eye out for.

There isn't anything preventing it. A pin passes through the wing and the "shoulder blade" (the part holding the ball for the arm). There isn't anything blatantly obviously preventing the wings from being flipped. I doubt Hasbro would do it though. I might do it for my Seeker custom though now that you put the thought into my head.

    GET DUDICUS!

reasons why: Onslaught is/can be a very likeable figure. the head sculpt is amazing (though for the Dudicus version i'd advise painting that purple head of his), for the most part he's game accurate, plastic feels very sturdy, and he's quite poseable and looks good with Brawl's gun in his hand and his own gun wedged in his back. His alt mode is alright. Looks great from the front, and really isn't quite as bad as people say it is.

Brawl is a great figure. Excellent detailing, good articulation, and very durable. If you have the patience, his feet really aren't that bad. and if you don't like either of his regular modes, there's always his turret mode.

Swindle isn't too bad. As long as you don't look at him from the back you should be fine. My only real gripes are the tabs. Really scary so you may want to widen the tab slots a bit so they're easier to pull out but not loose as hell (or just don't tab them in. your choice). Or you could strengthen the tabs by putting some epoxy behind and around them.

Blast Off, despite his awkward shoulders, is a beautiful figure and probably the most game accurate in both modes. Detailing is nice, and he's got some good poses. He can hold his guns a few different ways so you have some freedom there, and the gestalt fists in his legs make it so you can plug his guns in for G1 accuracy (he also looks good with Brawl's gun in hand). Alt mode is spectacular and has great detailing, and if you have some clear generic stands, it makes a great display piece. And it's kinda fun to fly around the room if you're bored :lol

Vortex has a decent robot mode. Good paint apps and sculpting. If you're good at modding, his blades CAN be placed on his back (there's a thread in the radicons where someone modded his blades but I'll have to find it). His knives make good-looking guns but I prefer to have him hold them downwards like daggers. His alt mode is great and, on a stand, makes a good display piece.

Bruticus isn't necessarily the best combiner but he's a damn good one. Since he has Scramble City capabilities, you have a lot of freedom to fiddle around until you find a combination and limb transformation you want. If Vortex's gestalt hand bugs you that much, you can still rotate his chopper gun out. And Hopeless Havoc found an excellent flamethrower configuration for Blast Off.

Needless to say, the FOC Combaticons are a "preference" type of team when it comes to transformation, combining, and display. Pretty much everything about them is up to you.
