I really like Blastoff that way and Vortex with the blades more up on his shoulder than the side of his arm that was in the first post.

Swindle I don't think needed improving and I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a better Arm mode for Brawl.

I'd do it myself but I'm waiting for the normal release version. I don't care if the color scheme sucks I'm going to recolor it myself I think.

DUDE, can you take a side pic of Blast-Off? That looks great! Nice work.
Does each bot have their own hand/feet for Bruticus mode? I don't see the retarded straight hand in that shot.

Sorry guys but no matter how you swing it, there is no salvaging the combined mode. Evergamer comes close though. Just those hands and arms don't look at all functional.

The hands for combined mode are built into each figure, if that's what you're asking--the flat hand is specific to Vortex, because that's one of the few ways to make it fit inside the front end of his chopper mode and form a right or left hand (the thumb can swivel around by 180 degrees). Brawl has fingers that swivel out of the bottom of his robot mode legs and uses one of his robot mode feet as the relevant thumb, Blast Off has half of the fist in each of his robot mode legs and a thumb on each side so that you only fold out the thumb you want for the side Blast Off is on, and Swindle just has two separate hands folded away in his robot mode legs, and you pick one based on which side he's on. The leg mode feet are just formed from various bits of vehicle arranged to make a flat surface (and, in Swindle's case, his robot mode feet).

That's a big part of what makes Bruticus technically impressive, if not necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing combiner--the only detachable parts are weapons, so even if you take away every detachable part he still makes a fully functional combiner without needing any extra kibble.

I'll take more pics of it tonight. Have to head to work in 30 minutes. It doesn't look near as nice from the other side.

I was going to answer this but looks like someone beat me to it.

Wait what? I was watching a review and it was said that Vortex doesn't actually have a right hand but rather he just uses the gun thing from his helicopter mode for the right arm. Someone should tell Optibotimus that the thumb moves.

That's the part that really impressed me too. Hence my post earlier complaining that G1 Bruticus didn't have any place to store the Gestalt parts when they're not combined. That's kind of a big problem for all G1 Transformers sense they didn't start incorporating extra parts into the transformation till Beast Wars.

And Energon kinda has the same problem because the hands and feet for the combined mode were meant to be weapons for the individual robots but were kinda over sized and stupid looking. I personally like how it looks combined but I understand a lot of people don't.

This, to me is a step up from G1 sense all of their parts can be incorperated nicely into their individual vehicle and robot modes as well as being part of the combined mode.

I also really like that even their weapons combine which was also done with the Beast Wars combiner sets. I liked the idea back then even though there was only way to configure them and it made kind of a stupid looking weapon. (Tripredacus, I never had Magnaboss) This is also a step up from that because there are so many holes and pegs on the weapons that there are multiple ways you can combine them for Bruticus. Personally I think I'm going to leave Onslaught's cannons on his back, I don't know how exactly but I've seen someone in here do it, and just combine the other 4 character's weapons together because I think the Onslaught's cannons don't look right as a hand held weapon. If they could retract so the barrows are closer together it would be fine but when they're stuck that far apart it just doesn't look right to me. I'm probably going to use at least one of Vortex's weapons as a bayonet for the combined weapon mode but don't know what to do with the other one till I actually have them all.

I see people asking questions like, what does that look like from the side, or how is the articulation?

The question I have is, does it matter. We are trying to make it look better. I know for me, I play around with it a bit, then it hits the shelf in a way I could be happy with it. With the original, it looked very out of wack. Now I am satisfied.

What really happens is that any change we make won't make it have fantastic articulation and look great. It's a mistransformation. It was never intended to tab in the way we try and so on.

For me as long as it hits a nice pose on the shelf, it is enough.

If Power Core Combiners are any indication, the combiners Hasbro offers are just going to get better. Look at the Aerialbots, for example, and then the Constructicons. The former is disorganized, thrown together, unstable, and alien-looking. The latter is humanoid, with single-thumbed hands, arms with distinguished elbows, stable feet, and a very lean and solid combined mode.

Mark my words, this is the Movie toyline to the ROTF that is to come.

If blast off and vortex switched roles, that would be better.

And after seening peaugh's blast off (combined) arm fix, I immediately thought of this:

Miss Saberfrost01s comics? Look no further.

Oy, meant to post this sooner but had to go to a funeral.

Here's another angle of my config, wherein you see the problem with it. But, I'm with Alucard on this one...If I get him into a config/pose that looks good on a shelf, I'm fine with it. Which, I have.
