With me, my low point was from mid legit RID to the last moment before Transformers Animated came on tv. For me, everything that I knew of transformers, was taken from me following Beast Machines. Sure RID had Predacons, but they were idiots and the Megatron was a joke from the more iconic Predacon Megatron from BW and BM.

So when RID ended and until late Cybertron, I couldn't watch the series at my place. I saw some of Armada over a friends place, but I couldn't get hook on it. So from late 2001 until before Animated figures it the stores, I only got what I really liked. If it had a beast mode, no second thought at all, I had to get it. I don't care if it was complete crap, I wanted it. When it came to vehicle mode transformers, there just had to been something that I liked about it or I would walk by it.

During that entire time, I got like fifty figures. Then Cybertron went off, wasn't a big fan but it gave me beast transformers. Since I'm not a big movie going type of person, there really wasn't anything to really hook me. So I heard about Animated and gave it a shot and not even in five minutes in to it and I was in love with the series. It reminded me so much of Beast Wars and the nobody Optimus was great to see.

Since Animated came and sadly went, my collection count has jumped from Animated, ROTF/HFTD, Generations/RTS, DOTM, and TFP. Though the other lines except Animated I only got what I liked though, Animated was the first completed line for me until the exclusives came out. Transformers Animated is the only reason why I'm still a Transformers fan, so its next to my heart with Beast Wars.
Megatron: "What is this? A new Megatron with shark teeth doing seek and finds? How annoying, yesss."
Optimus Primal: "Slag, I never even made speeches that boring on our show."

Just be sure before you get rid of them. Sometimes the bug comes back and then you re-buy everything.

I've just gotten over a similar slump. Had my entire collection in storage for about two years, and just now have been able to take everything out, and display them all, which has actually rekindled my feelings for the hobby.

I can certainly understand wanting to get out of the collecting scene, and don't discourage you in the least from doing so, but make sure everything you get rid of is for final, and won't be some thing you'd regret later on. I purged a large part of my collection a year ago and regret a few items, but it's nothing i'd want to buy again.

Similar to my burn out thread a few weeks back. I kinda like the the idea of selling off stuff and just going for the high end ones or the guys you really like. Easier to manage and display

I agree!

I'm in a lull right now with toys, but I know I will always collect something.

I stopped collecting as a whole for a year and a half. Biggest mistake I made since I came back trying to play catch up to all the things I missed. Won't do that again.

Many of us seem to feel the same way lately. I love my collection, but it gets a little overwhelming sometimes. So I have been thinning it out some. I'm doing it carefully so I won't miss the ones I part with, and the collection mostly remains for now.
