We need to sell out all the Generations toys in stores to make the retailers buy more to make Hasbro release G1 series toys to the US.
As much as I love G1 updates, I would love to see some WFC concept art characters get a toy. (Like bluestreak)
So... let's say Hasbro were to finally commit to rereleasing all the 'important' G1 guys. Which to you is 84-86, with a few of the better-recieved 87+ characters. After that last one finally hits the shelf... what then?
I like the FOC Aesthetic, I think it's one of the few franchises to do Cybertronian modes right. I have Soundwave and Optimus from the first WFC and love their posability, alternate forms, and just the essence of power they give off like old G1 bots. I for one am glad they are making so many FOC toys, since it means that the first WFC toys did well enough to warrant this devotion. I am really looking forward to Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, and Jazz, as well as the SDCC version of Bruticus.
Well, I'd like it if they then started finally releasing some Beast Wars, Unicron Trilogy and Animated stuff.
This. Gimme a screen accurate season 1 Rattrap consarnit! Or pre-transmetal Blackarachnia! I'd say Terrorsaur too, but I just can't see the wings becoming screen accurate without cheating. Which I don't mind, but I know lotsa people here hate.
Have you seen the toy shelves lately? You can keep releasing the same characters again and again as long you have some tiny improvements or changes to the figures. Just look at how many times we've gotten movie Bumblebee. Improve a figure like Ironhide, Starscream, or Galavatron and you can sell the new figures to collectors all over again. Plus everyone didn't get in on the ground floor of the Classics line so there are collectors and kids out there who don't have those figures.
Geez, present day as in modern era. I shouldn't have to explain that to you. When you are talking about beings who have lived since before the birth of humanity, 25 years is a blink of an eye and a stupid thing to get hung up on. The characters from the Sunbow show and Marvel comics. Don't be willfully dense. And when they brought out the Rodimus/Cyclonus Battle In Space 2-pack, it included a comic supposedly relating events that took place DURING the original animated movie. Except the characters all had their new Classics designs. I say thee nay. Scourge was not a flying wing/stealth bomber/whatever in Transformers: the Movie. Who cares? Even if I was going to concede on Wheeljack and the Seekers, Optimus Prime is the centerpiece of any Transformers line and the "Classics" version is a complete abomination that bears no resemblance tot the CLASSIC character. And as such, he invalidates the entire premise of the line.
Personally, I'm glad it'll have a focus on FOC for awhile. The games have wicked designs, and I'm extremely happy they'll actually be getting more toys this time around. Don't worry, weirdly entitled grown men, you'll still get your updated G1 background characters! Besides, the FOC stuff is essentially cybertronian versions of G1 characters; why is this bad? "Oh no, my classics Trailbreaker is a space truck instead of a normal truck"?
I for one could care less about Cybertronian modes. Pretty sure the only ones i own are the titanium diecast Seekers, which look really nice in the package. Not out to bash peeps that like WFC/FOC but I'm more a fan of the earth styled alt modes.
Sure it was disappointing but that's fine I've got 3rd party items I need to purchase in the meantime.
Personally, I'm okay with FoC figures being the first figures in the Generations relaunch. The game will have been out by then, so it's just releasing the corresponding toys with the media supporting it. More G1 figures will come soon enough. tfprime32, is that you?
I don't have a classics Ultra Magnus, so the FoC one is perfect for me. Shockwave, Kick-back, and the Combaticons are all welcome additions. I just wish they had revealed more/different Autobots. My current display set is Con heavy as it is!
