That's my take on it, and I am a G1 fan. Not all G1 fans are ruffled.

Do people even read before going all "NERDHULK SMASH!!" anymore? A proctologist would make a killing with all the butthurt. I suggest this:

WfC figures started out the original incarnation of Generations, did it not? And we ALL know that the line ended up being nothing BUT WfC toys.

I guess maybe people are just getting tired of the wait on some characters. Classics rolled out in 2006 and for fans of the style we are still waiting on a lot of characters.

There was always some excuse like well retailers really want movie toys so we can't do anything about a Classics version of that character right now. Well that character is on Transformers Animated so we can't do anything about a Classics version right now. So I guess for some people the game figures are one more thing in the way of whatever character they are looking forward to.

I like the look of the figures from the game and I think it's pretty darn cool getting them with their pre-Earth look. But yea I could see where some people might be disappointed Hasbro didn't jump right into Classics.

I don't begrudge anyone their FoC toys, but I can't help but be disappointed as I collect "classics" as in updated g1 (as vague as that has been). Cybertronian versions need not apply. I might get Shockwave and strip him a bit to make him look more g1 but apart from that, I can't really shoehorn anyone else we've seen in. Kickback looks radically different - face reminds me too much of Vehicon to add to a classics display. Could fit w/ Prime though. It also hurts the chances of getting a more G1 Kickback in the near term. *crosses fingers for later waves to have more figs to his liking*

    This is a smart post.

I'm a G1 guy too and I wish there were nothing but G1-themed announcements, but I get that this is a business -- Hasbro needs to cater to everyone. I think they're doing a pretty good job actually.

Don't forget the cassetticons and Soundblaster (repaint of Soundwave) -- that brings us down to 22 to go.

And conventional wisdom is that voyager class Grimlock will be among the remaining.... here's hoping!

    Nailed. It.

Some of the stuff they are doing is pretty clever too, they have a mass-release Generations Ultra Magnus. It's a redeco/retool Prime with a new weapon, but a lot of fans seem to be snubbing the FoC Prime anyway, so it might as well be a new-mold UM. Oh yeah, and FoC Starscream, that mold totally won't be used to fill in more mass-release Seekers. And we well know Sideswipe is a good source of popular redecos.

Oh and that "re-invention" of Soundwave and his tapes many of us have been clamoring for/wondering about? They totally just pulled that off. It's fixed now.

And then there's Bruticus...mass-release combiner pieces are back, and Aaron Archer made it very explicit that this is a potential gateway to more. Then name-dropped Protectobots. No one likes those guys amirite?

Hey guys, I just came back in time from 2047, and they just finally finished CHUGURTUNGABUNGA (classics for short). After 43 different Optimus Primes, 31 different Bumblebees, and 112 different repaints of the Seeker mold, they just released the final waves: Deluxe Rumbler (repaint of Sprocket), Doubleheader, Sky High, and Krok, as well as Voyager Blitzwing (FINALLY!) and Vroom! Yes, Vroom is the last to be released!

Don't forget about his little buddies being discs instead of tapes. The nerve of them.

Right now I appreciate the down time. WFC/FOC, for me personally, is still "Classicsverse" just in the Cybertronian forms. So that is still hitting me. And since my interest in everything else is extremely slim....me and my wallet can take a breather.

I wasn't entirely suprised at the Generations news and it's just reinforced my intention to stay 3rd party only except for MP Sideswipe.

I enjoyed the WFC videogame and will likely do the same with the sequel but I'm not really intrested in toys of those designs....Voyager Soundwave would possibly have been bought had it been released for the first game but now that Fans Toys have emerged there's only 1 realistic choice for me based on my collection's overall theme.

I also don't buy Hasbro's BS about Springer as they made similar statements in the past when asked about a Classics Arcee and look what happened there....thanks to the 3rd parties I have outstanding versions of both characters.

I've been consistently disappointed with Generations promise to "cover the entire history of the brand" when it seems its only got two settings "G1" or "the latest Activision game". I'd rather have a line that drops nods to several franchises at a time like how the clubs Subscription service seems to be doing, the Asia only Generations waves, or the 25th Anniversary waves from Universe 2.0. I've gotta wonder if they considered using it as an outlet to release maybe one or two of those canceled Animated deluxes (Wasp to help round out last years wave 8 with Warpath anybody?).

When did Arcee get made? I'm guessing 2036?

Nah, she finally released 3 years ago as part of the 60th anniversary. She was a repaint of Chromedome, though. :)

I'm surprised no one else has bothered to mention Rumble and Frenzy yet. Seriously, what's the hold-up? Rumble was scheduled to be released in the RTS line, but since then Hasbro has shelved him and his partner indefinitely. If they can't produce new figures, and least release ones that are already made.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the G1 stories were set in the 1980's, not the present day.  Since then, many of them have received updated alt modes in the comics just like in the Classics line. (Blurr is a good example.) Besides, many figures like Cyclonus, Jazz, Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Wheeljack and all the Seekers are nigh identical to their cartoon selves. You can't honestly tell me that the WFC toys are more accurate representations.
