And Warpath can still be found at major toys stores today.

People start scalping the moment toys hit shelves knowing there is a break between the next wave of figures. For those who are impatient (see my Botcon rant) and feed the scalpers, then they have only themselves to blame once the toys flood shelves are are easily available for retail. Think about it, it is a Vehicon, a troop-builder figure. I'm sure Hasbro wants the kiddies to buy multiples of them for their little armies.

I get that you are ticked, but the truth is, scalpers win as long as people are impatient and buy things right away. People will never smarten up and scalpers will always be able to make their profits.

    Just be patient and wait.

Right ow people are going crazy on eBay buying up Botcon exclusives, and in a few months, the demand will drop and so will prices. This happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

That Warpath business sure did teach me about the reality of the price cycle. I spent $60 + ~$20 shipping on two but since then I have seen it dozens of times locally, even marked down to $15 ( cheap over here ).

The only time paying the ebay price is worth it is for limited release items that have a definite cut off time.

    Ebay:
Here's the way I look at it: If some idiot is willing to spend $50 on a Vehicon, why shouldn't I be the one to sell it to him? The money I make from selling Transformers goes toward buying more Transformers for myself and my son.

With buying the Botcon exclusives, I look at what they sell for at the con. Plus tax. Plus a reasonable upcharge because the person selling is going to pay ebay and/or paypal fees, as well as stand in line.

For cut off time, what I mean is something like the super armour pack I have pre-bought for my VF-25. It is not mass retail and will probably be only made in one run. If I do not pay now I will miss it. Transformers are rarely like that. The FE Prime was like that I think, and I bought it all asap when that became clear.

I like you am not a fan of scalpers, but unfortunately, when i was at a local target of mine and saw the vehicons and voyager starscreams and the other new prime toys (looked like they put them out) I did not buy any since they did not appeal to me, but I did make a note on the California sightings board to let others know.

If you feel so strongly, buy all the vehicons you can find and sell them on ebay for cost, that way youre screwing those guys who are marking the price up. If youre looking at ebay to get your own, did you really expect to find it at cost? Prices get marked up because prpple dont have the patience to wait for them at retail, which it sounds to me you are one of them. Its all about supply/demand these guys are hard to find and ebay makes it easier for those who lack the required patience to wait the next couple weeks for them to be more widely available.

^ And that's the best thing to do. People will pay what they want for what they consider reasonable prices.

Then again, with the cost of gas, I'd love to see someone try to validate a price tag of 50 bucks against how much it costs to find one locally. I bet they could do it.

Well me i'm more of a buyer then a seller, if I don't need it I leave it, but judging by what i've seen in stores there are not many scalpers transformer sellers in my town, since the Prime stuff I saw at night at my Target, so its been there at least all day long, and i'm always seeing other hard to find figures at WalMart and Target and such.

Ugh, scalping is a ridiculously pathetic excuse for capitalism, but the OP really does need to calm down a little. I don't know how long you've collected but you're not five years old anymore and toylines come and go so fast that nothing you might miss out on today is going to matter like it did back then.

Several years ago I got many of my Star Wars figures from an Ebay seller who did that very thing. In every one of his product descriptions he had a paragraph describing how he was selling the figures at cost because he wanted to help fellow collectors. Got many HTF figures for under $10 shipped from that dude.

now while Scalpers irk me, another type of seller that irks me is the clueless seller, the kind of person who sees the price one person listed their item at so has to list his item at that price, regardless of the fact the original price was a thousand times to high.

point in fact: lately i've been buying up Air Raider toys, been finding lots of good deals on them, in act if you look at eBay on completed listings for them, you'll see they are not going for that much.

but if you also look at current listings for buy it nows, you'll began to wonder what those sellers are thinking, like vehicles i've been picking up on auction for $10 avg. shipped, yet those same vehicles the clueless are selling at buy it nows for $40, now yes I know your going to say, its their toy they can price it for what they want, true, but lets get serious, there are maybe only a couple of Air Raider buyers, and were not going to buy forever, so the seller is going to get stuck with unsaleable product and when he/she finally realises this and lowers the price, there will be no buyers left.
