so i picked up megastorm *bw2 repaint of g2 megatron* and it made me remember how wonderful these so called 'bricks' were. sure they were bricks, but they were often cool looking toys. megatron for example, has that big giant canon! and he is just massive. sure he has no articulation at all, but nor did most of g1, so it fits really well. he's one of my favorite megatron's ever, actually. i know there are a lot of people who hate the "bricks" but i love them. mw starscream is another awesome one that comes to mind. along with powermaster optimus prime, and starconvoy. all of these are technically bricks, but they're also fun toys. anyone else like bricks?
I hate the term brick. Obviously people like them as appreciation and collection threads show. I think there are two eras of g1 for me and I much prefer the pre movie era. Figures started to get real wonky after the movie for me.
Seeing that my collection almost exclusively consists of G1 and G1 homages it is safe to say that I am very fond of bricks. Yes, bricks, very fond of them I am.
Ditto. The design aesthetic was just really nice prior to the movie stuff, imo. Plus, real life alt modes went out the window, which was kind of lame. Unless you're just using "brick" as a synonym for G1, I don't think Soundwave can be considered a brick at all. His articulation was really, really good compared to most G1 figures. I would probably define a brick as a figure with maybe four points of articulation or less, and usually that seems to have meant an immovable head and legs when it comes to G1 figures. I would probably have to go with the Seekers for my own favourite.
Energon Wing Saber was a figure I liked alot. Armada Overload and its repaints. Sentinel Maximus especially. Powermaster Optimus Prime w/ Apex Armor also holds a special place.
Though I prefer modern TFs with articulation, I still have a huge appreciation for G1 toys. I love the big guys, especially Fort Max, Scorponok, Trypticon, Overlord, Star Saber, Victory Leo, Dezaras and Sixshot/Greatshot. Combiners are fun too. As for modern bricks, I'm one of the VERY few who likes Armada Scavenger. No idea why, I just like the looks of it.
For bang for buck play value and gimmicks I've got to go with Armada Devastator. He has niche appeal but I really enjoy the toy.
G1 Scorponok is not a brick. My favourites: G1 Ironhide with custom head Afterburner G1 Ultra Magnus (With armour) G1 Rollbar (has more character in that head sculpt than a lot of Transformers) Battlechargers Stormtroopers Spychangers
