Does anyone have pictures comparing G1 Roadbuster to the Brave CMS 21X Mugen Calibur figure? I'm in the market for a Roadbuster and I'm leaning towards the MC figure, but I want to make sure he will fit in with my other G1 Wreckers. From what I can tell, he's not terribly more posable than the G1 figure, so I think he'd work, but I would like to see the two side by side if possible.

That is exactly what I needed to see. Thanks! Still haven't 100% decided, but this helps quite a bit. I'd want to paint the CMs one to look more Roadbuster-y, but I've had to paint most of my other Wreckers so what's one more?

Wow, that one is 1000% genuine! That's ten times more genuine than the most genuine you can be! I guess if you want to be extra sure you're getting the real thing, that's the one to get. :)

On topic, I have the grey and orange version of this figure, and I love him. He makes a great Classics Roadbuster, even if he's a little more delicate than a standard Transformer. I considered painting mine, but I really liked how he looked in his original colors (especially standing next to Warbot Defender, who has a similar accent-color-against-grey scheme), so I just decided, hey, my Classics Roadbuster is grey and orange.

The colors of the original go great with WD as well.

I actually bought the $75 one. I'd emailed the $109's seller first about it but it actually does NOT have the armor which sucked. Only ones I could find with the armor were at least $200

That green one doesnt seem to have a roadbusterish head like the orange one. Are these the only 2 colors? Is there a cheaper one with the roadbuster head?

    Right here

First pic shows the armor, but it's not included. It's the yellow one with the Roadbuster head. The green one's head isn't near as Roadbustery but for about $10 less I was willing to settle.

I just got the green one last week. At first I was a little disappointed, because I had a green one in the same box as the Combat Calibur. Only thing different about the box is a big sticker on the front with a little pic of the color robot inside. No battle armor, which was the main part of the disappointed feeling.

But after carefully (some parts look like they can break easily) playing around with it: it's an absolutely beautiful toy. Great articulation, and a genuine and true representation of the 1980's toy we learned to call Roadbuster. I absolutely love it, dispite the not so small pricetag.

Somewhat on topic, but with no pics or comparison insight. I had the Mugen Calibur toy back in the day from Asia. It was pretty cool, I think it came with a driver as well. I can't remember what happened to it, I may have broken it, I remember thinking that it was a difficult transformation back in the 80's. I was then surprised when I opened up the 1985 Series 2 TF Catalog and saw Mugen Calibur advertised as "Roadbuster." I recently got a Roadbuster, and it is a cool toy. I've looked MC sales from time to time, I may jump on one. I figured there must have been an update done to MC.

I bought the yellow one, and spent the whole summer customizing it.
Most extensive repaint I've ever undertaken.
The die-cast parts were a real bitch to paint.

Now if only CMs would release an updated Gazzette at the same scale, I could make a Whirl as well...

    That's an amazing job!

Edit: Where did you get the right-handed gun?

Most of the weapons were kit-bashed from a variety of Kotobukiya Modeling Support Goods and Bandai High Grade and Master Grade Gundam model parts.

Of the weapons to the right, only the top gun came with the figure.

The others use various GM, Zaku II, and Zeta Gundam pieces, with some Kotobukiya
upgrade parts, a PVC scope, and even parts of a ballpoint pen.

The original Mugen Calibur rifle (the modular one that detaches from the left leg and
attaches to the barrel from the back-mounted cannon) functions as a backup weapon,
but I prefer to keep it folded up and attached to the leg. It matches the look of the piece
permanently attached to G1 Roadbuster's leg, and helps bulk up the lower left side.

The pulse rifle can also be disassembled, and stores inside the figure's bulky backpack:

It was important to me that each and every weapon could be carried simultaneously in both modes,
so I made further modifications to ensure they could all be mounted on top of the jeep:

^ Wow! Very nice! Wish a 3P could give us a Roadbuster already. I kitbash when I can but I'm still very much an amateur at it, and I suck at (and have no time at all for) full customizing/painting.

A complete redesign is hardly necessary, given the work CMs has already done.
If some Chinese company were to produce a knock-off in Roadbuster colors, I'm sure they could make a bundle -- especially if they made some of the changes I have.

The head, for instance (being a new, more accurate sculpt) looks more like the Calibur, and thus less like the Roadbuster we know and love:

I sanded down the "ears," re-sculpted the brow, and built up the chest and shoulders wherever it wouldn't interfere with transformation.

Of course, I was inspired by Don Figueroa's interpretation as much as the original toy... See IDW's "Stormbringer" mini-series.

I understand you used enamel for this, mate. How do you think acrylic would work?
