While Universe Ironhide does a serviceable attempt at replicating the animation design, it fails on the "fun toy" front. CW Ironhide is clearly not originally intended to be the character, but has a good headsculpt which is clearly Ironhide, and is a very fun figure overall.

While it's down to personal taste, I give the prize to CW Ironhide.

I'm fond of Universe IH. Bit of a puzzle-former but is fun and with a few minor mods is a great toy. My only gripe was his head wouldn't sit level which is now solved. I also mistransformed him a bit to get a bit more height out of him. Otherwise a great version of the character.

This is all my opinion though, so you can keep your hate to yourselves if my post disturbs you.

Me personally, I dislike the off road mold. Found it not fun.and I want something that is fitting in a chug collection. Is uni ironhide complex like a moive fig or more?

I think they are both great. Universe Ironhide has more of an Ironhide feel though.

I love those shots of Hound!

IMO Universe has more of an Ironhide feel.

So, because I've been feeling really burned out on the CW molds recently, I'm considering replacing the Wave 4 and Wave 6 Autobots with their previous Generations counterparts. I already sold all of Wave 6 except for Smokescreen and already have Henkei Hound (who I ADORE) and Generations Wheeljack replacing their CW counterparts, and plan on getting Generations Trailcutter and Hoist down the line.

I'm not replacing CW Optimus, because while I love Classics Optimus, it's too small and CW Optimus is pretty much the perfect size, IMO. I'm also probably not going to replace Ironhide and Mirage, since while they might not be perfect representations of the characters they're better toys. Which brings it down to Prowl, Smokescreen, and Sunstreaker. What are everyone's thoughts on their Universe figures vs. their CW figures?

I did pretty much the same thing, though cw prime was never my prime, that spot is filled by rts prime + battle tanker. I got universe sideswipe and sunstreaker and while being the same toy they are so very different in appearance and look much better than cw sunstreaker. Prowl I like both molds, but universe has a more overall prowl look though I've heard complaints about the fiddlyness of this mold I don't really see it. Universe ironhide/ratchet I actually really like over their cw versions, again they look more like the characters. I haven't replaced cw smokescreen, hound or mirage as I think those are fine as they are and I don't mind smokescreen being different from prowl. Cw wheeljack was replaced by prime wheeljack

universe ironhide looks like ironhide and has an interesting transformation, as opposed to CW IH who's a generic retool of a generic mold.

Well, Classics Sunstreaker is one of the single greatest Transformers ever made, and CW Sunstreaker looks basically nothing like Sunstreaker besides the head and front half of the alt mode, so I'd say that ones easy.

    Replace them all. Get Generations Wheeljack because he is a g o d s e n d
Also replace the stupid shitty CW Prime with Classics Prime. Who cares if he's short? Put him on some risers, he deserves to be lifted up like the magnificent Arthurian-legend he is.

Add to the fact that if you swing the Diaclone way, the swap involved to make a Spin-Out (red Sunstreaker) and Tigertrack (yellow Sideswipe) almost effortless. That, and there's no CW Red Alert yet either.
