What's the proper name for those books? I had five out of six (i think) of these as a kid, and would like to re-acquire them...

    Thanks!

Something like "Really sucky story telling and art Transformer stories" :D

I went to my folks house and was going to bring back the two I have for my kid and ultimately I just left them there lol

But man, back in the day they were awesome:thumb

that happened to me last week too on a set of unused labels for the anti aircraft micromaster base, actually forgot all about it until i won, going to let reprolabels have their way with them before applying them so others can restore that figure

awesome pickups, i finally found the connector for the double gun on skystalker, so now i'm one piece (the greasepit sign in my sig) from a complete us run of them when all the packages get here this week and next. skystalker, skyhopper, and countdown hold a lot of nostalgia for me, and they're awesome bases

Haha. Not even the nostalgia tinged glasses can save them? I can't remember much more than the covers, but still want them!

A bit of googling brought up Windcharger's preliminary name as being Sprint, Laserbeak as Slazer and Grimlock as Tyrannobot, Trapjaw, Jawbreaker & Tyrex. I'm sure glad they didn't stick with those names. :lol

I think they're part of the "Big Looker" Storybook range. They weren't just about TFs in that they covered a whole range of 80's cartoon characters. They shouldn't set you back any more than a couple of bucks each.

Thanks man. Yeah, the 4 main bases are great. I don't have Countdown, but I'm quite happy with my Microman Rocket Base as stand in. My Skyhopper comes with a box, but no insert. Would you know what kind of insert these Hasbro ones came with? I know that the Takara micromaster bases came in styro inserts.

I have no idea, I was referring to the fact that when the tech specs were written, Sideswipe was supposed to be the red Sunstreaker and Sunstreaker was supposed to be Tigertracks. Sideswipe's tech spec says he has a jet pack and pile drivers. Both of these are features of the Sunstreaker toy. At some point, they decided to switch the toys and swap their colors, but the tech specs were not changed.

My boxed Micromasters (Hasbro) came with cardboard inserts. Same with the ActionMasters.

i'm pretty sure they were cardboard on the '90 ones, not 100% sure on the earlier bases, but likely cardboard as well

I knew about all that, I just can't remember whether Sunstreaker or Sideswipe was the name that was originally Spin-out. I figure if Tigertrack is the official yellow Sideswipe name now, then Spin-out can be red Sunstreaker. Especially if that was the original intention.

As a sidenote, I'd also like to suggest Checkpoint for police Sunstreaker.

^ nice. I ignored Micromasters for so many years and recently I've found myself wondering why. They're such pure, simple joy. I've got my Armada Tidal Wave loaded with them now.

In my quest to create my own Abominus, I got G1 Blot in the mail. So far he's probably the best Terrorcon of the bunch.
